New Patcher Suggestion

Arcen

Dalayan Adventurer
Now that we have someone that is working on the patcher, could we get the screen "duplicated." For those of us that 2 box, and have 2 copies of the eq directory on the hard-drive, it would be nice to just have one patcher that does both directories. And then click button 1 to launch eqDir1, and/or click button 2 to launch eqDir2.

Another suggestion:
Allow us to put in a dropdown list of accounts that it can auto fill the account name. Preferably with aliases. E.G. Arcen would show in the dropdown list, but my account name is accountName1. It would save that to the txt file before launching. Choose the alias I want, and then I only need to remember my passwords. Great for those of us that have buff/tradeskill/twink armies.

Or if you could release the code for the patcher, id be happy to help.

IMO, a better more universally useful addition would be support for setting the properties of the patcher and starting the patch and run process from the command line. With support for that people could do stuff like have a batch file to launch a patcher for each EQ directory, or set affinity on two clients to two different processors, or (the most common case) skip straight to patch and run - which is perfect for most players who never want to change the properties of thier patcher after the first time.

Great idea. Patch and get the new version (1.61), and you can now use "/patch" and "/proc #" (# is 1-4) to automatically start the patch process and set processor affinity respectively.

Account thing could be nice, but way too complicated given the automation and coordination required between EQW, the game client, and the possibility of running multiple clients simultaneously.

*Edit: Reword: it doesn't bypass the patcher, just starts the patch process on startup...
