New Experience Modifier?

Had a question regarding the "new experience" modifier that shows in /cmd stats..

When I /cmd stats on my Beastlord it has been saying 25 % .. this zone offers.

Mean while on my Shaman it says 15% .. this zone offers.

The question is that since both characters are the same level and the same race and have been grouped together since birth why are these numbers different.

Not losing sleep over it by anymeans just thought would be a valid question to pose.

The amount goes down the time your characters spend fighting non-trivial mobs in that zone. Expect your Beastlord's to be 15% soon as well.

the mod for my beastlord dropped later last night ..

Just weird as I woulda thought they shoulda dropped closer together then they did was all.

To my understanding (meaning how I interpreted it :) ), the "New XP Modifier" is only temporary when you first fight in a new zone. The standard ZEM is what is constant.

Correct. The first ZEM will always stay the same for that particular zone, it's meant as an incentive for people fight in further away / harder places. The second modifier starts at 25% in each zone and then falls to 15% as you fight for something like 2 hours. And then in like 8 more hours it's 0% but I can't remember the exact time limits. Move to a new zone to get a fresh 25% bonus.

Just fyi: He means in the new zone. The old one's isn't "refreshed" by zoning.

Due to the way the sync works (only counts time when you actually kill things) you can end up having your counter tick down slightly faster if you zone in and out/relog/LD/whatever a lot. It's no huge difference though.
