New delay in listsold

If the reason the delay in listsold was put in was that it was lagging city zones, could the new delay be disabled in the house where it won't lag anyone? It's quite annoying to have to sit for 5 seconds when a toon is selling 1 item which you obviously don't want. ><

Also, and probably more importantly, if he delay is going to remain, could it at least filter out toons who aren't selling anything, or who have deleted their toons after adding themselves to listsold?

Edit: It took me 47 minutes to get through the whole listsold list. :psyduck:

I agree with this. Currently I am looking to buy a couple spells for my wizard. It takes very little time to visually scan someone's listsold and realize they don't have the spells I need. Having to wait 5 seconds in between each command makes it a pretty big chore to look through the entire vendor system to find what I need. I understand you can /auction to buy them, but that only works if the particular person who is selling the item is online at the time, which with my playtime, is probably unlikely.

I think the reason it was changed is because people were spamming the listsold which hit the DB hard, thus lagging the entire server, not just the zone. I agree it sucks, but it's something you just gotta live with.

I think that if the delay was reduced to, say 3 seconds, it would be much much more bearable, and would still prevent people to chain type /com listsold "name" to create databases.

3 secs is (imo) what you need to have a look at an average list of items (~10), check the next iteresting name in the queue, and type the command.

MESSAGE OF THE DAY: Rules updates: Keeping an augment bound to a deity that you are not sworn to is not OK - you should destroy it if you have it (we will try to setup some kind of compensation for people who did long quest lines and now get nothing for it). Furthermore, it is now against the rules to crawl the listsold system and use logs to create your own database - people bot-parsing the listsold system are creating noticeable lag in the cities, and are circumventing the whole no item search bit.

The MOTD indicated cities, not the server in general. I also believe the list is cached per zone instance, which leads to the out-of-date listsold problems discussed in numerous other threads, so it's not a database contention problem.

It doesn't take me 3 seconds to see that there's nothing I want here:

No player with that name exists.

or here

--Items sold by Solmyr--
Solmyr is not selling anything.

and there's no checking for interesting names when using listsold next...
