Ok so, along with my coming back to SoD (finally) i also have a new computer (or parts rather) on the way in the mail. I know from experience multi core processors have issues here, as well as certain video cards and what not. Here is a list of the stuff going into my new desktop, just as a reference to see if everything will be going swimmingly once it get it all pieced together.
Been using some laptop in the past, so there wasnt much room for error there.

1 Q131-3104 Aerocool Aeroquadro (4 colors)

5 T925-2009 Thermaltake Smart Case Fan Blue LED 120 CM

1 T925-2241 Thermaltake Mozart TX Cube F-Tower Case Blk w/Wind

1 L23-7236 Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard

1 M17-7503 Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP3 OEM Version

1 M17-7412 Windows Vista Home Prem 32-bit DSP OEM DVD

1 S197-2402 Sceptre X24WG-Naga 24in DVI 2ms Blk LCD Monitor

1 T925-1256 Thermaltake TG1 Extreme High Grade Thermal Grease

1 C13-8060 Corsair Dominator 4096MB PC8500 DDR2 1066MHz 2x2048

1 TSD-1000WD WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA HD 7200/32MB/SATA-3G

2 P450-9824 XFX GeForce 9800 GTX + 512MB PCIe w/Dual Link DVI

1 C283-1190 Cooler Master Hyper Z600R CPU Fan 775/940/AM2/AM2+

1 CP1-I7-920 Intel Core i7-920 2.66Ghz 8M LGA1366 CPU

1 L12-1192 Lite On 6X Blu Ray ROM/ 16X DVDRW w/Lightscribe

1 A406-1116 XION Power Real 1000W ATX Power Supply

1 E145-2037 EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI Socket 775 Motherboard

Of course im not worried about... ya know... the multi colored fans or monitor, but the video cards and CPU, etc... would be much appreciated. thank ya kindly

I really dont think that power supply, keyboard, cooler, HD, Thermal Grease, Monitor, Blu Ray and Tower Case will make any difference into SoD... :(

As for the CPU, just bind affinity to the first CPU in the patcher. As for the GPU, yes, the 9800 GTX will have issues with the polygons on everything not clipping where they should be. Unfortunately, the GPU issue does not have a good fix.

I have a 9800GTX + on my PC, the whole polygon-texture-mesh issue doesn't really bother me while in 3rd person. I'll occasionally get some weird clipping if I'm too close to a wall and in a weird camera angle. All together though I really do not mind. I also have a i7 920 and it runs fine.

Then again, Belo rarely looks at the screen while he's playing anyway.

Since you are going with a i7 920 CPU what in the world are you going to do with the EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI Socket 775 Motherboard you have listed? Your new i7 will not in any way work with the motherboard you have listed. You will also want to get the socket 1366 (which the i7 core series is) brackets to go with your Cooler Master Hyper Z600R, it doesn't come standard - the 940 being listed is the AMD version. The standard AMD socket and 775 socket brackets provided will not work with a socket 1366 motherboard.

On another note your choice of RAM is also not ideal for the i7 platform. Once you get a proper motherboard for the i7 920 it will work best with Triple Channel Memory (e.g 3, 6, 9, 12, GB of RAM in the correct slots) not the most probably Dual Channel Memory you have listed. You will also want to get as high a MHz RAM as you can afford if you plan to overclock the CPU. The i7 920 is an excellent overclocker depending on the motherboard and other components you get. Mine runs at 4.299GHz on water. You might also consider getting XP and Vista in the 64 bit version as the 32 bit version won't recognize or use more than about 3.25GB of your RAM. 64 bit will use it all. Be sure and check legacy applications you run to see if they run ok on 64 bit (most are ok).

Unfortunately the nVidia 9800 series cards do suffer from the clipping problem, but most use 3rd person view to alleviate the problem. If you're a caster the problem isn't so great unless you are meleeing.

thats your computer? looks pretty stellar. im glad you looked at all that, ya know im not sure what i was thinking when i was working on ordering some of that.... i feel ashamed lol. maybe i was thinking my old computer? i dont know, but thanks for the help.

Well since i didnt really catch the socket issue until Paxx said something, think im just gonna grab a 775 socket CPU for now. coming back to the states im strapped at the moment. new car, cell phone, and now computer.. ugh. maybe a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 Processor until i can buy the rest of whats needed. Thanks again Paxx

Not a problem. The Q6700 is a pretty nice bang for the buck CPU and overclocks pretty nicely also.
