New 65 War

As the title states I will be obtaining the level of 65 today, and I really enjoy being here on SoD and I would like to be a much better tank, please help! I am new to SoD I am seeking some advice. My fomelo located here http://shardsofdalaya.com/fomelo/fomelo.php?char=fibnik shows my current gear. I understand that warriors are very gear dependant and it may not have been the wisest choice for a first char, but I can't help it I love warriors. Since I am new I do not have a lot of cash to spend, and I am somewhat unfamiliar of the high end game here on SoD.

I have taken the advice of a few people and gotten the quest spear from thurg. Gone through cmal a few times, got a couple armor drops there, and I have been joining VE, and E map groups in order to gear up. Are there any other places I should be looking for gear drops, or quests I should be attempting?

you can score some upgrades from eldenals mansion. should be able to tank the stuff if you have a puller/cc. cmal and maps are a great place for upgrades early on. prolly can use some mielech c stuff as well (old lower guk).

Another route that you may want to consider is actually farming components fo high end tradeskill gear and then trying to find someone who will combine them for you for cheap.

Other than that you would do well in Eldenals, Sun Mines or Cmal for gear upgrades. If your feeling especially gutsy The Rust and Fire Grotto hold some major upgrades for you but would require a high end group backing you up.

Also, if you want to be able to keep aggro from squishy melees, you should use 2 swords.

Warriors excel at that.

My #1 piece of advice to you would be, if possible, to 2box a healer (or make friends with someone who is one and plays the same times as you). This would let you either have a much easier time in forming your own groups, or going through places like MielechB, Sorc's Lab, Crystal Caverns, etc and killing nameds for cash.

Gearing a warrior is about 2 things- HP/AC/Resists, and aggro generation. If you are spending platinum on upgrades, it's generally better to invest in larger upgrades rather than lots of small ones. Also, a better charm can be a good choice, but there are probably other things you can pick up first that give a better bang-for-the-buck upgrade.

Tmaps and the aforementioned zones are great ways to find armor upgrades. Other zones in addition to those previously suggested are MielechC, dwarves in Crystal Caverns (and also ganking other nameds in the zone), Dragon Necropolis (preferably killing dragons for a shot at quest armor pieces), and the first 2-3 floors of Highkeep (bring a paladin though). If you can get into a strong group for Fire Grotto, First Ruins, Catacombs, Everchill, or other higher end areas the cash and high exp gain will do wonders for you. I wouldn't plan on tanking in those zones just yet though, and don't be surprised/discouraged when you get turned down by higher end groups. If you see someone forming a group for those places I still recommend you send a tell, because it never hurts to ask, and sometimes people will be feeling generous and bring you along to places that would normally be over your head.

Mod tmap earring is probably going to be your best shot at better haste, since it won't cost anything. Bloody Cloak of the Offering (1000-1500pp) and Cloak of Blind Rage (2000-2500pp) are two of the more common buyable haste items you might look into.

You say you have your thurg quest spear- awesome! You need a mainhand aggro weapon too, ideally. This is where I'd recommend making your next purchase- get a Ruby Hilted Longsword, or possibly quest it yourself (Pristine RHLS is 13/19 as opposed to 13/21 if you buy it). Look to spend 1000-1200pp or so on one.

Warriors are without a doubt one of the most gear and AA reliant classes, so the main factor in becoming a stronger tank is just investing more time in the character. Ideally you want to try and group in places that can give you both exp and the potential for gear upgrades (or cash to buy things).

Oh and finally- if you see a War Invasion event happening, you might want to join in if possible. There are several items that would be great for you, but they are by no means guaranteed to drop (or that you'll win them). Still, if you're not in a good group it can give you some exp and more tanking experience.

One thing you can also do is farm things like Lasanth Greens, the squid mobs in Temple of Yaralithe, and spectre's in the outside zones. Even HG's or IG's would work.

Though the reason you'd farm these things if for a Deepmetal Set to get you started. Purchase peices that are your biggest upgrades for smallest price to begin with.

One thing I can say about warriors though. They are alot of work, about halfway through getting that work done though they become alot of fun.

As some have said create a box or find a healer class that is willing to help ya out at your play times.

Before ya know it you'll have 150 AA's and be semi decently geared if you stick with it.

Best bet for gear is to get in on some pick up Tmap. Or keep eye open for people doing them for the quest piece because usually that stuff ends up rotting and you will be able to get some decent upgrades.

The zones mentioned above are solid for you. Get your defensive AA's and hp AA's. Do main quest for aug. Figure out what diety you want to pledge to, or Pariah. Also do Blackscale, Silver crown, or Council of Innovation line. All have good rewards. Plus keep you busy.

Read up on wiki, search these boards for info on deity before you pledge.

Our guild is T6/7, looking for a mained warrior. Maybe send me a P/M or visit our website and put an app in. If you're ready to learn, and can play your class, have a good attitude, you've got a chance, regardless of gear. Gear will come pretty quickly ;)

Thanks for all the replies, I will lookin into finishing some of the quests I have started in my spare time, and jumping on on some tmaps. I am a very casual player so it might time me a little while but I plan on being able to tank with the best. I just need the ac/hp/aa's to do it! As I always say, "If ya need a crappy warrior, look me up in game!"

Crystal Caverns, Crystal Caverns, Crystal Caverns.
When I was a starting tank I used to get spanked by every thing I didn't even want to do elds because I got beat up there so bad.

CC offers a lot of loot to be gotten by eather camping Greens/Lb/ and blues
the zone is full of lowest level blue conning mobs if I had to guess like 48-52 ish

your offhand weapon is a very nice start but if at all possible get your hands on a hammer of ancient visions. it drops on the second floor of high keep and is amazing agro. not sure what the price is anymore, i thought below 1k. very worthwhile to get pristine.

Ytrazliarch.

Treasure Map quest Vah upgrade.

At the lower tiers, these quests are the best investments you'll make on your time.

Sorry, I didn't read through everything, but has anyone suggested to finish the Newport Ring 5 quest? It's a really big upgrade from Ring 4, especially for tanks. And it's really quite easy, just find a group, or even just a higher tiered couple of folks to help you. In point of fact if you still need it this weekend send Slagar a tell and I'll help you get it.
