Need help fulfilling a last request.

Martanthalis

Dalayan Beginner
I have it seems, inherited a dying mans last request. While searching around for good buys amongst the Newport vendors and merchants I came across an old man behind the Warriors guild. Having a spare moment and interested in his odd location I hailed him. He told me that he was recently robbed by a street urchin and that he would appreciate my help. Tracking down the would be thief I cornered him quickly behind the casters guild. With a little pressure the young lad cracked and admitted to taking the old man's last possesion...his sword. A quick bribe of an evening meal was enough to secure the stolen property. Upon returning it to the old man he seemed content and then slipped to another realm. His dying words sent me upon a quest to restore his sword to it's former status or owner. I know not which. For the better part of the day and all through the night I have traveled to the far port of Erudin, the icy lands of The Great Divide and now finaly back to the city of Newport where I pen this message. I have watched a Sprite of Althuna expend itself in the persuit of this quest. Followed the words of a dying woman to the tops of frozen mountains. Crossed the realm of giants, and am now at a loss as to how I should procede. In my possesion are the blade ( Sword of Kaelaenth ) that started me on this journey, and the gem ( Waterborn Gem ) which I was told should be placed upon it's hilt. Should any adventurers or good folk of Dalaya have knowledge of these items please send word to me. What started as a kind errand to ease a old mans passing has become quite the adventure. Any and all help would be most appreciated.

forge it in a ....brewing barrel?...potters wheel? I cannot remember what to forge this sword in...

Many thanks. While I have only dabbled in the art of fletching, the thought had crossed my mind of trying to fit the gem myself. I will procure a jewelers kit and tools so as to give it a try.

Reason I suggested the jewelers kit is because it seemed to basically needing to affix the gemstone to the sword so it seemed the most logical.

Sometimes it is the simplest course of action that yields the best results. And it would seem that was the case inregards to my quest. When I awoke to further persue my quest with this sword I found I had slept through the day and into the early evening. I was quite dissapointed to find all the local merchants closed for the day. On a hunch, many thanks Haisei, I tried fitting the jewel with the aide of a forge. To my surprise it worked. Even though I have no training in the skill of smithing.

The Holy Sword of Kaelaenth has been restored. I as of yet do not have the strength of will to wield it, but will keep it safe until such time arrives. Again my thanks to the kind folks who have helped me on this journey. May your travels be safe and your adventures rewarding.

/OOC

This quest was both enjoyable and the reward quite adequate for the effort involved. I highly reccomend it to any and all lower level Paladins, Warriors and Rangers in search of a good low to mid level 1HS weapon. If memory serves the statistics for it are as follows:

1HS, Primary or Secondary, 12 Dammage and a 27 Delay.
Combat Effect: Cease ( I am told this is a high aggro very quick stun. )
Required Level: 35

It is equipable by all races IIRC but is limited to the classes of Paladin, Warrior or Ranger. A job well done by the SoD quest designers. Should anyone wish to persue this quest please feel free to touch base with me via PM or in game.

Martin

(Edit) Just double checked the statistics for this sword. I was mistaken, it is primary slot only.
