Necro Gear

Magister

Dalayan Beginner
Hello,

So I was perusing the forums and the wiki trying to find some item info for gloves in particular for my necro.. when I came across a killer post for a shaman:

http://forum.shardsofdalaya.com/showthread.php?t=18101&highlight=item

Where someone basically breaks down a killer set of gear for that class, piece by piece, slot by slot and I was hoping people could help me do the same thing for a necro here =)

I am currently 36 and I *think* I have managed to twink myself out fairly decent, but I am 100% sure I can do better and as I said, at the very least I am so not happy with my gloves =)

Also - before I finish - I was wondering if there is a SoD item database somewhere? Because this server is much different from live so obviously things are different =) - oh and a map for the server! - Sorry, I've only recently come back after being gone for a very long time and I am just trying to get back into the swing of things =)

Thanks so much for your time and patience!,

Magister.

Currently I only have one clicky (Travelling Boots)
and um..no weight reduction packs! =( Those would be a godsend if I knew where to get some of those due to my crappy strength hehe.

I am trying to make some money at the moment, almost at 1000 plat (I Know I am poor hehe) but the best money making spot "I" know is rather slow going so.

Thanks again!

If you are level 36, spend less time trying to farm money for gear and more time leveling. Farming will be much better at level 65.

Whats the point in leveling like a fiend until I hit 65 and then all I have left to do IS farm gear - sorry I would prefer to farm money and take a more leisurely trip up to 65 thanks =)

When I hit 65 I will have plenty of time to try to look for gear because thats all I can do really (well besides AA's).

Renshu is right, you should just level. Farming cash at that level is terribly slow. I am not even sure how you can handle it tbh. I always thought half the fun of the game was starting a new char that was not twinked right away and had to work my way up getting gear that scaled with me rather than making content way easy, but thats my opinion and you are entitled to feel differently. But all in all when you hit 65 it will be a looooong time before you max AAs/tomes etc. so don't worry about lacking things to do at that point.

Agreeing with Renshu is not advisable...except in this one instance. Don't think of it as power leveling up to 65. What he is saying is not to focus on farming cash from greenies, the cash is not worth it. Keep killing level appropriate mobs and take the cash they give you. You will be enjoying level appropriate content, gaining exp, and getting closer to 65 - where the real fun begins.
You are getting close to being able to kill Hill Giants, Spectres, and Wraiths which all drop good plat. The plat will come - kill stuff that gives you exp at this point.

Do a /who necro <level> and see what people a few levels above you are. If you see some interesting gear, check the wiki.

If you farm at level 40, you may farm 10 plat an hour. If you farm at 50, you may farm 75 plat an hour. If you farm at 65, you may farm 500 plant an hour. The plat gets much more exponential the more you level, and the gear you farm for now will be crap compared to the crap that drops at 65.

Personally I just find when I do go out leveling I can zip through a bunch of levels (such as yesterday I shot upto 41) and now know there is tons of nice gear in treasure maps for me, and other stuff I could/can do for gear and FOR ME personally most of the fun in playing a game like this is getting gear ...

Be it finding it on a quest, searching the world for a long lost crypt and unearthing it or slaying a mighty boss type creature to get it...whichever way it is found, getting the gear is what makes the game enjoyable for me.

Infact yesterday when I logged on there was a discussion going on in the newbie guild chat about how all the games content focuses on end game and pretty much everything else is neglected.

Now, don't get me wrong or anyone else that participated in the discussion for that matter ... we all agree that you need end game content, however!

We also agree that having a lack of things to do during the other levels, simply makes people go "Why bother doing anything at these levels, might as well just level as fast as possible to get to 65 and then start playing" and honestly ... where the hell is the fun in that?

Like I said, Others as well as myself in that conversation felt it much more enjoyable to have epic dungeons and grand quests to go on at a variety of levels, rather then always simply trying to get to 65 so we could "start to play the game". Ya know?

Finally, I simply want to point out I am not trying to pick a fight, or troll, or cause friction - I simply am trying to make you understand what makes the game enjoyable for me.

I would also like very much for people to list of nice necro gear still =)

Also, I hope Raralith you were only joking about farming 10 plat an hour at 40 hehe - personally I have been able to kill hill giants since I was 29 (although things got REAL easy once I got root at 34) and I usually solo farm 500+ plat an hour easy in the spot I go. Now that I am 40+ I can goto my other spot and make ALOT more =)

Money isn't ever an issue for me personally - Money exists to be spent and I would rather constantly be broke and have lots of shiny new toys to play with, then suffer, yes suffer with gimptastic gear for 65 levels before I start to really collect gear.

I mean I do goto level specific areas to xp, but I also take time to goto other specific areas to farm =)

Anywho, I hope we have come to an understanding and someone can finally fulfill my request and help make a nice list of twinkish necro gear please =)

Thanks again in advance,

Magister.

Wow, 500pp an hour... I'm gimp. If you've moved on from that camp, pst with secret? Heh, in all seriousness, I trend more towards 50-100pp/hr if I'm lucky and would accept/love any advice.

I agree about taking the slow road as well. I am a level 39 necro after some ... gah... 4 years? I've not put much time in, but am having fun. I mostly wear things I can get and while I used to be bent on 65 ASAP, I am no longer and instead am enjoying exactly where I am.

Anyway, yeah, if even a steady 100/hr is possible at 39/40 then I need to find new stomping grounds.

Riiight, this isn't even possible porting between GSM - OSM - SOS giants while beating respawns... can I have some of that crack you are smoking? :psyduck:

500plat an hour?

Screw your necro. Farm 50k (100hrs). Twink the everloving crap out of a paladin... PL to 65 and win SoD.

Who the hell WANTS to play a paladin. I mean I know stope does but he's a masochistic bastard. And foct/poct doesn't count also cause he's a cleric and a ninny.

You can tell me I smoke crack and disbelieve if you wish - Sure it's not always EXACTLY 500 - it does depend a little on drop rates of course, but the overall average is roughly 500pp an hour.

Look at the gear on my necro, then I have a SK and a Wizzy similiarly done up with pieces that range in the 500 to 1500pp per piece range, oh and a baby thief with a couple of twink items (just weapons, wasn't ever too serious about him hehe) ... it's not like there is a fairy god mother handin the gear out in the dream zone =)

Of course I have just returned after being gone for 2 years so, maybe some stuff has changed, but I did hit up one of my old farming spots early this morning and in a single spawn (not run, just spawn) pulled down around 100plat so I think the spot is still yielding a decent time vs effort return.

Anywho, I don't want this to turn into a big e-peen contest - All I wanted was for some necro's or people that knew the class and the gear / areas well, to offer a list of best stuff I could get at certain stages. Kinda like that shaman list of gear in the link I posted in the OP.

So far, instead I have gotten just about everything else besides what I have originally asked for and the thread is getting WAY off topic.

May we please stay on topic and focus on compiling a list of necro gear pretty please with sugar on top =)

Thanks once again in advance,

Magister.

You kidding thade? Tanks are the most fun to play imho... But then again, my favorite part of MMORPGS is collecting gear. And paladins certainly seem, if not outright the most powerful tanks, at least the ones that have the least regrets. I can see warrs and sks saying "I wish I could..." a lot more than paladins do. (though FD is a huge one I'll admit).. but maybe I'm mistaken. Sk's are probably more fun to level, but I think once you hit the high levels paladins win the fun contest.

This is really a tangent tho... but if you want to get people to focus on your question you could try PM'ing me your farming spot... Im sure that would convince them all to help you. :p

And foct/poct doesn't count also cause he's a cleric and a ninny.

Come on dog, he finally replaced his beetle carapace!

PS (edit)
I told him I wouldn't use him to tank my exp groups till he upgraded his BP (he did so)
Then I told him I wouldn't use him till he got Taratzu's Healing Flames (now done)
Help me with more ideas!

sounds like you should play a bard. that's what bards do, afk and collect gear they will never use. Why do you think my main alt is a bard? and sk is pretty fun the problem with playing a tank is most players suck and its really frustrating trying to tank four mobs as an sk when people fail at assisting :( I've played maxemo a lot and I can tell you it's about as boring as watching paint dry.

Seeing your character's fomelo helps a lot for recommending gear, so all the values and how they add up is all presented.

Your gear is more than adequate, especially as a necro, to last to 65. That might be why they keep telling you to just level. IMO spending any more money on items would be a waste compared to just saving it all.

If you're really itching to spend though, spend it on a few items you'll likely often find useful until the very end game such as:

Traveller's Boots (you got these so good job)

Diamondine Jewelry (double augged with a resist type) - imo as a necro nothing makes soloing any zone anywhere easier than being immune or mostly immune to spells. Melee mobs are already pud, but resists turns virtually every caster mob, or group of them, from a potential disaster of rapid fire spells to a bunch of mobs with less hp just standing there doing nothing until they run oom.

Any clicky that debuffs a mob - I've been out of the loop for a while and can't log in to check Loxo's clickies, but asking just about any random 65 with mana what their favorite clickies are will probably fill out your list real quick.

Also, take up alchemy. Doing alchemy for profit is a terrible chore, but getting it up just high enough to make good potions for yourself is so handy it's crazy and makes use of a lot of junky stackable stuff that is otherwise just hassle.

I cannot remember who or what drops it but there is that 2 second cast ear that debuffs poison resist.
That thing is the fuckin tits.

@ Loxo and Dongsy -

Thanks so much! - these are exactly the types of tips I was looking for =)

Little tips on exactly what goodies I can try to acquire that will make my life as easy as possible while playing my necro =) hehe.

Honestly though I didn't think my gear was honestly good enough to last until 65...was rather surprised to read that tbh lol.

That "magister" character fom link isn't me btw - that link shows some random lv1 guy hehe.

Currently I find my biggest Issue is mana regen (which I am sure is no surprise to alot of people casters lol) - I'd also like my hp to be higher tbh, or increase my regen...

I am just worried that with the lich form spells I am going to end up killing myself while trying to get mana back =)

Currently I have:

Recovery 1 / FT 1

As well as:

Damage Increment 4 (12%)
Mana Conservation 2 (2%)
Casting Speed Increment 3 (6%)
Affliction Enhancement 3 (9%)
Companion Strength 4 (20%)

with a total of 2322 Mana and a measly 804hp lol.

I suppose you could just check it out here @ http://shardsofdalaya.com/fomelo/fomelo.php?char=Beshaba

Any further suggestions would be terrific thanks!

Edit...

P.s. where would I exactly need to get my spell resists to, so that I am immune? simply 100%? Just checking since I am not sure so

If you're truly worried about your lich spells killing you and don't mind losing a somewhat minor amount of stats/mana, you could replace your chestpiece with a mossy tunic. It has 5 recovery and I run my highest lich as a level 39 and lose nothing. It won't always cancel out the loss but it will always pad it. I saw this sell for like 50p last night.

Regardless if you look at my Fomelo, you'll see you have double the mana, 200 more hp, 100 more ac and countless other huge benefits over my toon... And while I'm no powerhouse, I don't find I have any trouble. My guess is that where I can kill 2 mobs of a given size w/o regen, you can probably do 5, but regen doesn't take that long.

I do get it that you enjoy playing the game that way, and I think I would too... if I farmed gold that fast I'd prolly gear up and twink out alts and have all kinds of fun before leveling... so play how ya want...

but whatever rate you make plat at now, you'll be better at it later and you are definitely well-geared enough to make the run to 65... just do tmaps occasionally and grab whatever upgrades come there... otherwise, don't fret about it, heh.
