Naming policy for pets?

Okay the naming issue has been a constant drone in game lately. I've never been nerfed so this is not a *whine how come this gets in trouble and that doesn't* but I was curious about petnames. I reread the base rules and the post on the updated stuff, but didn't see anything concerning pets. I have heard that the naming policy does not apply to pets, however, the only place I've "heard" such a thing is random ooc chat, andwe know about how accurate that can be. I see loads upon loads of really quirky pet names, so you'd think they are legal, but I'd like to be sure just in case I ever find time to play that shammy up a bit.
 
Unless you have a really really REALLY offending petname, you'll prolly get away with it.
 
Naming policy is pretty lax about pet names.
They're harder to monitor and we don't mind pets having roleplaying or funny names.
That doesn't mean you won't have to change the petname if it's incredibly offensive, though.
 
That all said, naming your pet Assbang (cough Jimmys cough) or a racial slur (you know who you are) is likely to cause you more frustration than fun when your pet can no longer bear the shame of its name and kills itself.

(yay for at least limited internet connection after 6 days of living without)
