I think the naming thing is starting to go a little far. The biggest topic in /ooc seems to be names now adays and how everyone needs to change thiers. When I was level 13 Melwin sent me a message saying I needed to change my name. I did and he told me I needed to pick a different one, so on the third name everything was fine and dandy. Then all of a sudden 30 levels later I get told by a different GM that my name that was acceptable is no longer and needs to be changed yet again. It also seems the random name generator is giving out bad names as well. Today I grouped with a 51 shaman that all of a sudden had to change thier name, The name ment nothing and was perfectly fine even at dictonary.com the name didn't come up as having any meaning. When they changed thier name they then found out it was the name of some foreign car that no one in the group had ever heard of. If you use a name generator and get a name that has a base root in a language that died out 4 thousand years ago you get hit with the nerf bat and told to change it because 1 person happens to know that language and complains about it.
I understand the naming rules and have seen people with horrible names running around, Whaler, Bicurious, forevernight just for a few examples. I agree with the naming rules as well. I know the GM's are busy and constantly doing things, but you need to get together and decide on some boundries though. It's lame to be told by one GM your name is fine then be told by another it's not and to change it, be told by that GM it's fine, then have another GM tell you to get a new one. It seems almost imposible to make everyone happy because everyone lives all around the world with all different cultures. Some words are just random letters to someone who lives in Germany but it may mean sunshine in Guam so you have to change it even if you and 99% of the server didn't know cause one person wants to bitch about it. I really think you need to find someway of saying "That name is fine, leave the person alone" and be done with it rather then having storm troopers in /ooc complain that "Tom is Gaelic name for the God of pink elephants." If not you may as well start giving people numbers because there will always be a handful of people that complain about every name just to complain.
