My Gnome Legs Hurt :( (or) Necromancer Vendors In Newport Gates?

Hello all,

Very new player here - haven't played EQ since the Iksar were introduced.

Anyways, I rolled my favorite race/class, the Gnome Necromancer. I decided to make him evil, as all Necromancers are, and was forced into the sewers in Newport. I quickly got out of there and to the North Newport gates. Got to level 2 and had a full bag of items.

I found that I can't sell these simple newbie items to ANY vendor, and will have to go all the way back to the sewers just to sell these small, pitiful items. I don't mind that, but the map is very confusing..I ran around for about 10 minutes trying to find my way back, to no avail.

I think it's a great deterrent to new players such as myself, as I'm considering either re-rolling to an "easier" class, even though I really enjoy the soloing aspects of the Necromancer.

What I suggest is a "lone evil vendor" in the outskirts of the gates, away from the guards, that will sell items to evil aligned characters. I understand that I chose to be negatively aligned, but it's quite the task to do all this running just to sell beetle legs! It slows down my levelling like mad.

You should either learn to find your way back to the guild (It's not that hard) or hunt in the sewers. The area around the necromancer guild has tons of newbie mobs.

There are also several quests you can do to raise factions, which will then let you buy/sell to various vendors around town.

Another option might be to use the portal system to get to an evil city and hunt around there instead. It's a quick and pretty much entirely safe trip 2 zones away from Newport, and I'm pretty sure the vendors there would deal with you.

Also, you know how to use the in-game map, right? (hit backspace). You can zoom in and out, and it's pretty hard to get lost using it. Sewers might be slightly more tricky, especially with secret walls, but most of those are marked or half obvious from the map anyway. I actually don't like the map because I used to like exploring and the map make that basically pointless, but it's there and everyone else uses it so I use it ; ) Don't wanna be the gimp here.

Also: for me at least a big part of the fun of a game is trying to figure out the best way to do stuff. Looks like we just gave you 3 different options. Oh well = /

= )
