My Gnolls are Barbarians

And my skunks are humans.

I glanced through and didn't see a thread on this. Is this a known issue? I have just been ignoring it because it doesn't stop me from playing and I certainly know what gnolls and skunks look like heh heh.

ok maybe they are humans in chainmail like someone else mentioned in another unresolved thread.

So I copied the entire game into a new SoD folder away from steam entirely and pointed the sodpatcher to it. I launched Underfoot and let steam patch it and then copied all files that exist in the steam version but didn't exist in the SoD version over (overwrote nothing).

Didn't help. Those darned traitor humans are still in Blackburrow.

I have the same exact problem (purchased underfoot edition from steam as well). The gnolls in blackburrow and in the sewers look like humans in leather or chainmail depending on if you have the luclin character models on/off.

Also mithral weapons do not appear to have a model. My monk is using a 2hb mithral but no model of the weapon is visible.

I tried verifying game cache through steam ( and completely redownloading multiple times) but didn't help. Also, tried switching out graphics cards (NVIDIA to ATI), no luck either.

I'm curious if there are additional install steps required for the steam underfoot version? Does anyone with the underfoot version not have this problem?

I have some creatures in Southern Wastes of Tarhyl showing up as humans too.

Maybe the Steam version let's you play but is missing some files?

They changed the global model files in the later installs of EQ, so if anyone who converts right from live to SoD or anything after (Seeds?) Will have this problem, The only fix would be to get the right global model files.

I bought and installed the Underfoot version from Steam because it was listed as compatible. Depending on how technical you want to be about that it is or isn't compatible.

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying playing with the odd humans showing up here and there, it would just be a wee bit better if they looked like what the text says they are.

Any ideas on how to obtain the files and which file names they are? I could probably dig up some old discs from one of the first couple of expansions. /shrug

If it was knowen what file it was had the models you ware missing they could just include that file in the patcher as you already patch some model files, but dunno they are weird about that

I actually found an electronic copy of EQ: Anniversary Edition on my direct2drive account which I purchased back in 2007. This version has no display/model issues.

Draeos - Which files store the global models (.s3d or eqg)? Would something as simple as copying these files over to the steam install for each zone work?

any file with the name global . whatever is a global model file just about, and yeah copying them over to any install you use for shards would fix your model issues, They are global models so any mob you can see in any zone is global. (Pets, Gnolls, Orcs, The player races, ECT). But yes if you could pinpoint what one had your gnolls/skunks/puma's ect you could just copy that one over (or add said one to the patcher and fix it for everyone and every single install of EQ would become 100% compatible with shards instead of every install being like 98.9% compatible but playable) and fix this issue. You could always just copy them all but that isn't viable for the patcher cuz hi a whole bunch of bandwidth use.
