Multiple pet groups

I was just curious to see if npc's had a hard/soft cap on how many pets could be attacking it. I did forum searches to see if any topics were related and looked thought the wiki in different places but could not find anything on the topic.

The issue really came up when being in a group that consisted of 4 mages. Three of the mages (generally the first 3) could get there pets into combat and be fine with nukes. The last mages pet would get invalid target messages and even when trying to nuke the target would get messages that said the target was protected.

I am just asking here first because I do not know if it is a well known thing that 4 pets on a target is a no go and I just cant find that bit of information. If it is a bug I will go through the proper channels in reporting that.

From my experience, there is no cap (3 x WIZ swarmpet, 2x SHM swarmpet, 1x NEC swarmpet, 1x MAG swarmpet on 1 mob is awesome :toot:)

Only 3 of one class can engage the same target or be onthe hate list of one target.

That seems to explain all of the experiences we had last night in our night of elemental invasion fun!

Is that mostly to kind of prevent raid overload or group overload on one specific type of class?

ahh old empire mob at 50 melee curses. 30 magepets, 1 shaman pet + swarm, 1 necro pet + swarm, 2 wiz spampets, + 1 dru spampet.

The 3 Class limit stops things like 14 wizards, 1 warrior, and 3 Clerics raids.

Thier was a very sucessful Raiding guild on live that has something like 30+ wizards.

Yeah, I remember some tov days when guilds leaned heavy on wizards for the dragonbane spell.

Though one of may all time favorite groups was the 6 monk group I had in the basement of KC.

Heh! We had one of those on E'ci around the Luclin/PoP days. We called them team manaburn! When they were bored they'd go around one grouping or duoing the old school dragons. :keke:

Before these changes went live in sod I used to twobox magicians in a six-magician group, it ruled.

It's how my friend and I stumbled upon the 3 class per hate list rule! Obviously limited to 4 and not 6... Heck even 3 mages in a group is pretty mean.

I understand why raid mobs would be affected. But if all the group you can find is mages (or necros, or rangers...), why couldn't they go in warrens and use all their pets combined and pwn in a group, instead to be parked in their Solo role ? This seems to go a bit against the grouping spirit.
Wouldn't it be possible to make the 3 per hate list max rule only work on higher mobs (like not on raid targets starting , I don't know Rivervale commander / Keo Kodal level.) , the zones they are in, and of course adepts ?

I was thinking some of the same things. Obviously I have no clue on if that type of rule is a per mob basis per zone or if its just an over all rule that is applied to all npcs.
