Multiple Mobs with AOE's and Rains.

Situation:
Paladin pulls multiple mobs, like EW Orcs or Rust Robots, as an example.
When I assist with a Shaman, an AOE slow will only have a chance to hit the mob I'm assisting on.
In order to get on the hate list for all the mobs, I'll throw the Pally a quick heal first.
Then the AOE slow, in this case, at least targets all the mobs - but can be resisted.
You can at least see the resist messages on the ones it doesn't hit.
Without the Quick heal to get on the hate list you do not see any resist messages and it only targets 1 mob.

Enter the Mage:
Mage rain spells seem to behave the same way.
The problem arises due to the fact there is no way to get on the hate list of multiple mobs like casting a quick heal.
I'm looking for anyone else that has come up with a solution to getting the rains to hit multiple targets quicker than hitting a mob with a single target nuke, switching targets (can be tough when stacked) and then casting a Rain.
Is there anything that will get the Mage on the hate list of multiple targets like a heal?
Also comes into play when a mob dies on the first round of a rain, next 2 rounds will not switch to a new target.
That might be intended.

Looking for suggestions...Thanks.

I generally see mages just run in close to the mobs to put them on the hate list. So long as the mobs are KOS to the mage, I believe this works.

maybe get something akin to a heal clicky ring from parcelan and click it on said tank before raining/aoe?

Yeah, what Zaela said.
Either mage runs in and out or sends pet to one mob and casts rain on the other.

Yep, also, once recall minion is gotten, even if you initially forget you can quickly recall pet and send it on the other one midcast. Pretty easy thing to fix.

The way I do it is I wait for the tank to have everything under control then I run in and do a PbAoE (flamecall). Assist the tank with my pet then target a different mob for rains. If you have a good aggro tank especially on mobs of 4 or more it is crazy good dps, and you can blow through the mobs.

*edit* the reason I don't rain the mob the tank is on ic because it usually dies first and rapidly and can cause the rain to bounce back on me. I have had better lucky raining a different mob first and letting the mob my pet and tank are on be the second target instead of the first.

I don't see why you don't load flamecall and scintillation and mash them until your fingers bleed and/or things are dead rather than risk your health to an errant rain wave.

Also since I forgot to mention it, in a pile of multiple mobs, you can also use this nonbug to cherry pick your first set of rain targets (healers in the bunch for example).
