MQ problem, Learning -> History

I started the MQ on a couple alts a LONG time ago. I *believe* I had talked to all 8 NPCs after getting the Gemstone of Learning, but when I hail William he told me:

You say, 'Hail, William Defar'
You have spoken with Korgen Stoutaxe of Freeport. 
You have spoken with Leader Dannisin of the Plaguelands. 
You have spoken with Sedran Telvir of Goblinskull. 
You have spoken with Dawn Seer Tarnok of Oasis. 
You have spoken with Captain Nolgon of Thurgadin. 
You have spoken with Historian Allen of Shadowdale. 
You have spoken with Theron Praknat of Sadri Malath. 
You have NOT spoken with dwarf trainer. 
William Defar says, 'Hello there.'

So I went and talked to the dwarf trainer again. Now when I hail William, I get:

You have spoken with Historian Allen of Shadowdale. 
You have spoken with Theron Praknat of Sadri Malath. 
William Defar says, 'Hello there.'

All spoken to, and yet he doesn't advance me or send me to Loremaster Tresaria like he should. Loremaster Tresaria doesn't respond to hails either.

The 2 characters I have with this bug are Gneidden and Gnunder, but I believe Breh (my son's character who did it with Gneidden and Gnunder) will have the same bug.
