More HP bug issues?

I experienced a bug last night that I think might be related to the false HP indicator issues in the Feign Death - Bug or Stealth Nerf? (video) thread. That's only a guess, as I have no other clues as to what it might be.

I was using Pyxis, lvl 60 enchanter. I was rezed after dying a normal death, had SoP and Aego cast on me, I used a mod rod and cast KEI. I then used my Rivervale gate necklace to port to rivervale, and died on arrival. No fall, no aggro, no damage, just died.

While zoning back to my bind point, the client apparently froze. I killed it, started another, logged back in, and it showed me in Rivervale (which is NOT where I am bound). Great! Enter world, enter Rivervale, and die again. Again, no fall, no aggro, no damage, just died. This time I did make it back to my bind point.

Use the Rivervale gate necklace to get back to Rivervale, and arrive fine, no dying this time. Interestingly, there was only one of my corpses there. I was already at max xp debt, so couldn't tell which death the corpse was from.

Here's the relevant portions of the log (stripped out extraneous stuff). I'm in central time (GMT-6) if that helps diagnose anything on the server.

I think you get the old EQ zone death.
It used to be that when you zone EQ would recalculate your HP without your buffs and then add them again each time you zone.
So if you where at Neg HP without buffs when you zone you died.
A good guess would say your client think you die when he load you but the server think otherwise.

The problem is, I wasn't even close to neg HP without buffs. Pyxis has 1218 HP unbuffed, and the only damage taken was from the mod rod (500). Should still have had 718 hp left. Even if she were naked (if it calculates without equipment), I have to guess she'd still be positive.

This tends to happen when you have BoA or GoA (more often wiht GoA). It has happened to me several times, most recently was 2 or 3 nights ago.

I have a theory that if you have a lesser HP buff (focus or WoN for example) in a higher buff slot then the client will apply this buff first, giving you enough hp to survive the GoA buff.

A GM once suggested that if your buff (GoA) is greater than your HP (plus the negative amount you can have before going from uncounsious to dead), you die on zoning. It seems to happen to casters with lower HP than melee.

I know it only happens to me when I have GoA, although I just upgraded some gear so my HP are well above 1300, so I may be safe now.

I had the opposite happen once, A mob hit me for the kill and my corpse fell into the zone line, I zoned, and when I came out i was at 100% health no death. Made my day a very happy one. This has no relevance, just another fishing story :)
