This item is good, but not a make-or-break item for monks. There was a time when it had instant cast, and even then it was not an essential item.

In any case, my beef is not with the item which is admittedly more than just "good"...what I'm wondering is why do we have three adepts in the low 40's:

Sludgebreath, level 42 max engage
Snowskin, level 43 max engage
Icefeather, level 45 max engage

and only a single item (Digested Hexdoll) that is monk usable from them? Is it possible that this could be remedied, or is it a sadistic experiment to see just how many monks will lock at that level to try and obtain a single item while showering everyone else in phat phat loot love?

But what does this have to do with polo t shirts?

IMO adding MNK to Icefeathers eye would give the avid adept hunters (read: Rykke) a little more to do than just sit glaring at the statue under which snowskin spawns.

Hey, I avidly hunt adepts also, thank you very much. Adding Monk to the Eye off Stormfeather, and the Cloak off Sludge seems about right.

I may as well use this thread to lodge my own complaint about Tidefang not having a caster drop but I get that not every adept is going to have something to offer for every class.

Also re: the monk issue adding monk to the eye does seem like a good idea but adding monk to the cloak of the gutter which is a plate item does not!! That is my two cents.

Pretty much agree with all of this!

There is many instances of some wacky class combos on adept items, but the cloak is leather, hello type 5 aug. The cloak is light enough that a monk might use it, and has useful stats, sta/hp/resists. What other option is their, the sword? umm.. no. The caster shoes with ft (and -cha)? umm.. no. Or perhaps the healer chest piece with duration inc on it? Maybe at best, with that 3.5wgt.

And since when do people kill Tidefang? It is like pulling teeth to even find ppl with alts at the right level, much less getting them to log in do do him. As it seems most people kill robots until they ding 51.. therefore blowing right past him. Much less the near requirement of having an enc to do the kill. (Possible w/o, but very tough.)

We're actually gearing up to kill Tidefang soon ideally but I mean who knows. As far as the cloak even looking past the fact that all the classes on it are plate you have to look at the stats vs what else a monk can use in that slot I mean at the base stats it has it's about as good as an imp hide cloak, better if you want pure hp. PLUS monks can wear the Goretusk cloak which is probably more in line stat-wise for them.

Yeah, I know all the other classes on it are plate. But there is really no other loot on him that would be very monk applicable. And sure, once you get to mid-tier gear, it isn't hard to max sta, it, it usually is for a toon in the 40's. So extra sta/hp is always welcome. Though, many twink haste cloaks, as they are the most common to get with no level rec and such. (Does level rec affect haste? Never could get an answer on that.)
Anyways, comparing:
Goretusk Hide Cloak: 12ac, 35 hp/mana, 12cr
Cloak of the Gutter: 15ac, 5sta, 55hp, 5dr, 10pr
I'd rather sta and more hp, then get mana and the extra cr. (Especially since those resists are harder to raise.)

Need a wizzie for Tidefang?

Side note, gutter cloak only gets +1 per level and maxes at 5 levels...not sure if goretusk cloak is the same, but i wouldnt be surprised if it is better than +1 per level, and ends up coming closer in stats to gutter cloak

Goretusk cloak is 5 levels +20% per
