Monk Weight/AC balance

Now, i'm not sure if there's a real reason for this, but i can't have hardly ANY weight on my monk without losing a whole assload of AC ;( . I can have a max of 17 whole weight before i start losing AC. the first one or two weight over only subtract like 3 ac and such. But, the next three weight (about) each subtract nearly 20 ac EACH.

I personally think this "feature" should be removed, because my max weight is way over that. What's to say a warrior wouldn't lose 25% of their ac just by looting some of the time? or a rogue? hell, why doesn't this happen to mages, since their max weight is so low anyway? It just makes it unfair for monks, since i cant even carry a backpack along with all my stuff without going over 17 weight. It's pitiful, if you ask me.

Because warriors get their defense mostly from the heavy armor they wear.

Monks get their defense from being quick and light on their feet.

That is why. It was the same way on live.

*notices armor on himself but says nothing* and rogues dont get the same thing why..? because they get their defense from.. sneaking?

dude....

Monks are made to be light light armor tanks. They avoid -- they dodge. How can you dodge with 30 pounds of armor on your back?

At 65, the limit is 24. it's totally within reason, and not difficult to maintain. get WR bags. They're easy to get.

Alchemist pouch in DN is a good one. Drops from the rat alchemist. Rat city is doable by a group of 4 at 50, with a cleric, tank, slower, DPS. 80% WR, 6 large slots

Lazuli's treasure pouch is another good one. Drops off Lazuli, a low raid dragon in Western Wastes. 10 giant slots, 100% WR

Kobold runner's pouch drops in Velk's Village. 4 medium (?) slots, 100% WR.

Pouch of New Beginning is treasure loot, but you're unlikely to see that, as treasure hunting is somewhat of a farse atm.

Santa's gift bag is another, but if you didn't get that while the Santa Troll was in bazaar, you're somewhat SoL. not sure if there will be similar stuff around easter, or other holidays, but save your pennies just in case.

Basically, you can't expect to treasure hunt, ever. You expect to go spy hunting. That's rewarding enough. the AAxp, cash, gems, from the hearts is great. However -- maps are way too rare, IMO, and easies are too common.

The situation would likely be different if more people spy hunted.

I agree on the whole monk weight restriction, although it stinks. At 65 monks can have up to 24.9 in weight without losing their avoidance. I've got mine micromanaged down to the 0.1 with cool backup gear ready for when I can replace some of my heavier gear. Quick question, why does the Elthannar Family Signet Ring weigh 2.0? And treasure map stuff that I've seen is god awfully heavy for a monk as well.... WR gear is not very monk friendly at times. :(

Monks not being able to carry much comes from Dungeons and Dragons. Monks in that game can play very well wearing silk garments. I think that's where this idea that monks shouldn't be carrying much is from, at least imo.

It's an RP thing really. :D

I don't disagree with the weight restrictions, whether they're there for game balance or for Nostalgia. I do wish that the weight of some items were looked over, however. Like Geshala's Fang. At 3.0, it must be rather painful to have dangling from one's ears. :brow:

LOL! Ok, I see what you mean now Homarg....haha, I think that should prolly be looked it.... Earrings shouldn't be lead weights hanging off your ear o_O
