Mobs casting while feared.

I am extremely irritated at the time of writing this, sorry if it comes off harsh.
At the moment I am trying to faction in Stormkeep by killing giants. I'm getting really upset with the way the game mechanics work for their healers though.

I am a 51 necromancer and my tactic is simple.
Darkness, dot, dot, dot, fear, repeat.

However, when fighting the casters, while feared they have both the capability to stun my casting as well as completely heal themselves.
How in the hell is that fair?
Can I keep healing myself when they stun me? No.
Can I continue casting spells while moving? No.

Why is it that the giants can?

Please, no unintellegent smartallic replies or "why dont you just go where there are no healers".
Neither of those are fixes to the problem.

a guy petitioned about this a while ago and i looked into it, figured out why it was happening, mentioned it in irc, and prompty forgot about it

hopefully i made a post, ima check my history and try to find it
 
Couldn't find it, but I *did* remember why!

It's the advanced AI the giant clerics employ. Their normal casting is inhibited, but their "oh shit he's casting, better stun him" AI isn't. Ditto, one would imagine, on the heals.

edit: And if you're the feller who petitioned, I'm really sorry I forgot about this.
 
btw I love and Hate that "oh shit, hes casting better stun AI"

I love it, because it makes total sense for the casting mob to take notice of my shaman in the corner charging up his Big DOT or Heal. Makes the game much more tactical and realistic.

I hate it.. well when you dont have any aggro on the mob and suddenly it turns and blast you with a stun for casting near it. Not to mention those times when you really want to get that heal off and the mob changes targets hehe.

So in any case :) nice AI work.
 
The stuns I can live with, the heals are BS.
When fear wears off, it starts casting cheal right?
Well I fear it again...
With the mob about 50% done casting its spell, its feared and running around.
Not only does my fear not interrupt its casting, but somehow while having run 50 feet, its spell lands.
There's no AI involved there I don't think, seems like a bug of sorts to me.

Part of that problem is how fast a mob can cast CH. I know with my paladin I can't wait to see the casting image I have to start chain stunning before a mob thinks of casting heals or I can't stop it as the heals land quicker then stuns :( Wish my Shamans big heal could land that fast.
 
Nah, its very easy for me to have it feared before its even half way done casting..
Could be wrong, but I don't think thats it..
I know what you mean though, I've seen that in groups before.

IIRC there is a code that prevents mobs over a certain level from being interrupted by players. At least there was, not sure it if was taken out.
