Mob faction sense

Could it be possible to make some mobs' faction visible? Some of them should have symbols that mark them as allied to one or various factions.

Thought about a way that might show this in a bit more "real" way but dunno if it's client limited, so I'll post it in case somebody likes the idea and manages to develop it better:
Every time you kill a mob, you get a random chance (in the way skill learning works) to raise your knowledge about the faction it's aligned with, and maybe another chance when looting it for first time. This knowledge would only be shown when you con a mob, getting another sentence on the con message telling you the faction you think the mob is on, being modified by some randomness too.
The starting city of the player would determine knowledge on some of the different factions, and doing quests might give another chance of learning about the faction of the mob you're helping.
It would help to players that actually care about which mobs they take down. Obviously some mobs would show a false faction message, depending on how well disguised they are to look, like the traitor giant in Stormkeep, or on a failure with the faction check, due to not knowing enought about that faction to recognize it or to getting a botch on the random modifier (like when you get tons of pain while using mend in the lower lvls).

This is just an idea I think that might would be nice, I'm aware there are tons of more important stuff that requires the staff's time, so please spare me the replies saying it's unnecessary and that getting the class' epics implemented is far more important, etc... :roll:
 
I think you're on to something and I would like to add on to it. Applying the /cmd stats principle of listing exp debt, the factions could be like /cmd faction <race/all>. The result could be the faction spectrum. We may need to match on our own of what faction a value represents. This would help since raiding guilds transition from being ally to kos and vice versa.
 
Personally I would like to leave the faction as is without just knowing faction without being near something. It doesn't fit the RP model to be able to query a database to find out whether or not mob_x is kos to you if you can't even see that mob.

If you want to do something more roleplaying based, why not make an npc that you can hire who will ask you what information you wish to gather? He'll be some sort of spy and based on what zone you need info from (high level zones will cost more) he'll determine what it'll cost you. To get you the info it'll take him a full game day or two (maybe three if you want him to scout out some raid type zones). When you go back to see him (within a week so the database doesn't get bogged down saving all the players' requests) he'll have some relevant info for you. If the player doesn't get back to a_spy_001 within an in-game week, the info is cleared and the player will need to repay him.
