mining + tailoring =

I was reading the thread about tradeskilled gear, and one of the player proposed changes was to make the tradestilled items more logically balanced towards the 4 types tank, priest, caster, dps.

Along those lines....What if new ore deposits were discovered across Dalaya that were found, when combined with augments would bind them with different properties both limiting and specifically useful.

ExQ wis lining
ExQ mana lining
Treehugger ore combined in an aug kit would produce an augment that could only be bound into imphide, say with +3 wis and +15 mana.

Thus customizing the already existing armor to a specific class. It would also add something more to connect mining to the market and help balance the gear/augs out without adding in yet another vendor bought item.

Of course the whole tradeskilled armors would have to be balanced still anyway - but this would allow more player customization to suit each class.
 
Is it possible to bind an augment to only be allowed into a specific type of gear without making a whole separate slot class?
 
I think a new customization slot might be a good idea afterall, like a type 6 slot or something other unused number specifically for tradeskill armor.
Those augs would only work in tradeskill armor.
Possbily have it replace the second aug slot?
Then again, this is more coding that'd need to be done.
Could also make it class specific augs
Eg DRU CLR SHM 3 wis 15 mana
besides just raw stats, it really would add unique customizations to tradeskill armor.

Just throwing more ideas around.
