Microsoft Internet Explorer Problems

Ello, been trying to get the new patcher to work again, installed it no problem, but I use Mozilla Firefox, and can't get the .NET 1.1 file without going into Internet explorer, which gives me about 5 seconds to do anything before it freezes. Can anyone help? Don't know if there's a way of getting the file without using Microsoft Internet Explorer or not... Thanks
 
i would think since the .NET is a Microsoft program they'd want you to

use the IE and not FireFox, but maybe sumone else has an idea

Windows Updates don't always like to run in non-Microsoft browsers (seen it happen with AOL - MS even has a KB on this).

I would first suggest the following:

Start - Control Panel - Network and Internet Connections (if this is an option) - Internet Options.

Go to the Advanced Tab. Without scrollling the bottom item in this list may be Enable Third Party Browser Extensions. Uncheck this. If this is not the bottom option should only have to scroll once or twice. Click OK and try IE again. It is possible that unwanted software on the system is causing the issue.
 
Your IE is probably weighted down with spyware/adware/toolbars thats locking it up. Run Ad-aware, spybot, and whatever else spyware removal software you can find to try to get IE working.

Sadly when it comes to Windows, IE has to function for applications to work right, even if you use firefox all the time. To many things tie in with IE and if it's not working it creates tons of problems on your system.

This is very BAD advice. Do not just go looking for spyware removal software because most of the time it will just put on more spyware. Dowload and use Ad-Aware and Spybot only. If that doesn't fix your computer, format and stop downloading shady porn.

On top of those two, I also use SpyWareBlaster. With all three running, it makes for a very good defense.
