NOT DONATING *EVER*
Two melee readjustments are being put in:

A) Rangers will now recieve Triple Attack to the same extent monks do (when you start being able to double attack, you also start being able to triple attack with your mainhand, at a lower chance than double attack). This will put them on almost equal footing to monks in terms of melee DPS in the pre-endgame levels. We feel monks' superior tanking ability and utility makes them a simply completely superior class previous to Rangers maxing out their archery AAs otherwise. Monk DPS in melee takes off ahead of Ranger DPS with the help of AAs and superior styles in the endgame, which is at the same time Rangers start doing incredible damage with their bows.

B) 2handers will recieve another notch upwards, though nothing huge.

No. It's incentive for people to pick a ranger that doesn't have a bazillion bow AAs for a group. :brow:

Can you guess where this will put rangers vs monks on the DPS scale?

I disagree with you on the utility thing. Rangers bring snare, pad heals, DS, and track. Monks bring offtanking and pulling.

--edit--
Rangers also bring effective root CC, which can negate the need for monk pulling in alot of places.

Well, go back a week ago and monks didn't even bring pulling. I still haven't really tested out the new timers, so I'm not sure if the changes helped at all. I can only assume they have.

monks can always pull, regardless of mob reset timers, better than any other melee class. At the very worst, we have an abort key.

What are the Monk's AC like now? Are the Monks prenerf via EQLive, are they back to the way there were before EQ decided to nerf their AC?

Curiously yours,

I dont think this will change anything in the high end DPS. A *high end* ranger will always use their bow over melee, regardless of this change (unless its THAT great, which I think it is not) simply because our bows are MUCH MUCH better than melee (again, in the high end). I stopped using melee as my primary form of DPS around archery mastery 1 (and no endless quiver), so I dont think a chance at an extra round of attacks from just the primary hand will even come close to an EQ/AM3 ranger's bow. This isnt
to make top rangers any better, but will rather make the gap closer between them and those w/o many AA's and also melee and archery (both of which are HUGE at the moment).

Rangers will do around the same DPS as Monks until the 50+ AA period fo game, when Rangers will go over to bows and Monks will pull ahead in melee.

Considering Monks bring:

- Better tanking
- Less? utility (this also varies)

vs

- More? utility

I feel this is fair.

I don't think i comletly understand... ur going to give rangers triple attack when they reach a certain lvl cause the rangers that worked hard to get 65 and all those bow aa's does more dmg... I would rather see this be a aa like bard double attack.. Any when do monks get snare and a big bonus to trowing daggers that do 300dmg... rangers can solo as good or maybe even better then main solo clases like bards, nec, and encs.

Timir,

Considering this triple attack chance is to re-align pre-AA dps, I don't think adding it as an AA would serve the same purpose. Please re-read this thread.

either way i don't think a ranger should be doing the same dps as a monk with weapons... with nice bow and aa's the do insane dmg and arn't even gettign hit what else do they need? Isn't double attack enough why not give bards double attack then without having to aa for it... do rouges even get triple attack? I don't really like this idea sorry...

All this change would do is let rangers do monk dps before they get their AAs. It's evening the classes out at the lower, pre-AA levels.

I don't see very many rangers, and if this helps bring them back from the grave, then I'm more than happy to endorse it. Who cares about which class does how much DPS, so long as the class is being played well and to the maximum efficiency?

when i think of a monk i think of master of mind body and spirt using all that to be the best melee in front combat. I never heard of a rangers that was a master of weapons they have their bow for a reason. And groups on the server none really have a problem getting in the group its finding one that has a spot open. I am lfg like almost all the time i don't see how this is gunna make everyone just wana group with rangers even more then they would now.
