maturity on the ooc

an incident happened the other day that seems to be a growing problem in my opinion. The other day a person made a comment on the ooc. something along the lines of "i think this server needs more items" and a moment later the ooc was on fire with beratement. Rude comments like "this server needs more intelligent people" were flooding the ooc. it took a few minutes for the gms to calm everyone down. first of all i dont think his comment was all that controversial. a lot less than a lot of the stuff i hear on the ooc. it definitely wasnt deserving of the response, and shouldnt have created such a reaction in the ooc. i know a lot of the responses to ooc threads say just turn off ooc. but i belive that the ooc should be reserved for people mature enough to use it properly. its not my place to tell people what to do but i would like it alot if people started acting a little more mature, especially if your on the ooc.

Were trying to keep ooc clean. Revoking their ooc rights will help that.

P.S. There are plenty of items. Just too many lazy people to go looking.

I have to agree.. Not necessarily of what was posted, but mostly to the lack of maturity on the server. In the past week, I felt like I was listening to a bunch of 10-12 year olds. It struck me like the talk you would hear on the playground, and quite frankly, it became extremely idiotic after a while. I personally like to keep OOC up and running to help out those individuals who have questions about the game, but its the immaturity that seems to be flooding it lately.

I don't know if its the heat of summer that is frying the brains of the players but this playground 'poop' talk and whatnot seriously needs to go. The mature intelligence of the players in the game was one of the redeeming quality of WR that I particularly enjoyed. The mature quality of conversations prior to the population explosion.

Its a shame to keep OOC off because of these immature individuals.

Being relatively new here myself, I found the society behaviour and expectations to be pretty high, and whilst being, (to me), something of a fresh breeze, can knock newcomers off guard.

I think it'll just take a while for new people to settle down and realise that things they happily got away with on Live, is often frowned upon here.

Give it time.

I'd suggest petitioning people you feel are being out of line. If I'm on and see things out of hand in OOC, I generally send the person a tell and ask them to keep things clean and in a mature manner since OOC is serverwide(you'd be surprised how many people don't know OOC is serverwide). If that doesn't stop them, their priviledges to speak in OOC and auction will be removed for a short time.

I have no problem with people making comments like the one stated above concerning the players perceived lack of items, as long as it is a legitimate expression of concern and not some know it all loud-mouth copping an attitude and shouting something like "This place f* suxxorz cos I can't find good gear for my rogue." We are all newbies at some point and at the lower levels when we are sweating it out and working hard for what seems like meager rewards, it is not uncommon to wonder (sometimes aloud) where all the good items are. The condemnation of this poor individual by everyone within earshot is uncalled for and not only serves to drives new users away, but existing ones as well.
