Massive Lag / System Drain

Greetings

I just installed everything for WR. Once I load the game I run through the options which asks for models & resolutions. Problem is I get the message that my system can't handle anymore than two models.

I go through the setup & then I login with user name & password. Then the system just slows down badly. My system is able to run EQ with full graphics with no problem so I know it can handle it.

Any ideas?

Yes, I've tried that. I get to the server select screen & mouse moves once every 30-45 seconds. The blue scrolling Welcome took a few minutes to appear. I have problems here. I just got in WoW & that ran like a champ.

Troubleshooting is such fun.

This might sound wierd.. But a friend of mine who plays WoW and WR had some wierd gameplay playing WR. I told him to reboot his system before playing WR, especially after playing WoW. Once he reboots after a binge of WoW, he doesn't have any issues with playing WR anymore. And the times he forgets to reboot, he has some wacky gameplay, till he does.

Just a thought...

No, I've reboot

I've disabled Firewall & virus shield. I've tried with & without EQW & upgraded video drivers.

Still troubleshooting on my end.

that happens when the patches etc. arent installed correctly. Run though the process again of installing all the WR stuff and try again.

How would I redownload the file from that WRPatcher? I did have a lot of pausing during the first download & perhaps that was the cause of this. I can launch & run EQLive with no problem.

Refresh frequency?

Are you playing in full screen mode, or windowed/eqw mode? I've had this problem in eqw mode when the refresh frequency the game was set to did not match the refresh frequency my desktop was running (from the video drivers).

Problem happens when tried in both ways of playing. Running through EQW or full screen.

It's been a long while since I've seen my Install CDs, but I'm thinking about heading out & picking up the big pack & just doing a fresh install. I'm thinking something got corrupted somewhere that I can't see.

eqgame.exe hit 100% CPU usage & the system drops to like 2-3 FPS

If you're using broadband, you can download the original trilogy directly from sony from the Free Trial link on the EQ homepage.

Same problem I've seen... Have you played with resolutions and refresh rates at all? My wife has this problem as well at certain resolutions.

Ok, that's good news. I will try that first. Thanks

That I haven't tried yet, but I do remember a year or two ago when I first used EQW that the resolution played a big part in it. Thanks for reminding me. I think my system had to run at 800x600. Now I have to get home to try it.

Thanks, hope to see everyone in game soon. I HOPE!

Ok, did a complete fresh install & followed the WR directions. Same problem. Whatever problem I'm having it has to be on my system somewhere.

I had/have this same problem, Wiz helped me out for about two hours and we couldn't figure out what the problem could possibly be. I ended up running it on another computer and it runs just fine there. So, sorry... no idea what causes it but using a different computer should help.
