A friend of mine is trying to play SoD but the maps won't show ever. He has repatched the maps many times and it won't ever show. He even downloaded the EQ maps and they won't show. Anyone ever heard of stuff like this?
 
I'm having the same problem. My character is in the MoP and there is no map, downloaded it from the main page, and reinstalled.

Instead of repatching a few times, try downloading them from the wiki (HERE) and placing them in the maps folder which should be found in your game directory.
 
Make sure the maps themselves are going into your maps folder. The zip file has them in another directory, so if you set it to unzip into the sod/maps folder, all the map files will be in sod/maps/maps, or something along those lines. That won't do you much good =P
 
I have done all the above mentioned items and still have never been able to view MoP (I can get it by changing a few things around, but then I lose SoD Maps to about 40% of the other zones). I have run into at least two other people with this same problem. However, I just memorized MoP and that is how I get around. Seems like a pain in the ass, but once you know it it makes travel quicker!

If all else fails, and if you can get MOP to work some of the time, as a quick fix you could jsut screenshot the map and use that, either by alt-tabbing or just printing that part of it out.
