Map Request Submissions!

Although I think that the deadline set might have staved off a few artists we are extremely happy with the results of the contest. Since any artists rendering of our fair game is too cool to let be hidden away we are posting a couple of the submissions here (there were a few more but they were not relating to SoD) and doling out according fame.

Be aware that although we have picked the artist to render this specific map I will always be more than happy to give out fame for drawings of the SoD game world.

I am not going to publish the fame numbers but total fame handed out for all three is around 300.

First a great sketch of the Sundered Mountains. Although it was not exactly what we are looking for map wise I would love to see more from Bunknee. I specifically like the compass.

Finally the winner of the job. We are very excited to see the end result. Aeneron brings us -

Frostfang

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry. As I said before we will happily continue to give out fame for SoD fan art!

Thanks so much for the kind words everyone, both ingame and on the forums, can't wait to see how the final product turns out!

awesome artwork aenarion! i honestly like it a lot!! i especially love to see how you mapped out everything in comparison to how i had it thought out in my head

on a side note, i was going to use a program called TwistedBrush, but i decided against it is very difficult, i guess..so i think it is really neat and also well deserved

Really brillant, simple and totally in the spirit of the original cloth maps. Now for details, obviously stuff like linking WFC to WW via Siren's Grotto is gonna be :psyduck: as it makes no sense with in-game directions. I would suggest shortening the width of Wyvernfang, put a mountains chains on its northern edge, and making the northern part of WFC way more east so that SG is at SE of WW .

There were a bunch of things that I had to take some artistic license on the Frostfang map (wizzy spires being too low to include giant fort), and a bunch of other stuff that I just ran out of time for (refining some mistakes that I made in the basic drawn design like Dzillon pointed out), if I can find the spare time I may touch up the Frostfang map to look nicer. Still definitely going to be putting most my time into the full world map once I get started on it.

Wow, reminds me of the original maps that came on the washcloths heh. Very nice.

I hate to detract from the awesome effort you put forth, but the text is a tad hard to read. Most notably in Faentharc or Stormkeep. I am sure you were in a hurry to make the deadline and the text is obviously the very last concern under such circumstances. For the full size map, maybe you could get creative with the text and make it stand out a little better? On the original map, you can see the text in the darker areas has a glow behind it so it is more distinguished from the map itself. Just my two cents. Not sure how much it matters though.

That being said, the font is awesome and fits the map well. Overall, nice work. :)

Definitely can do. Thanks to everyone for the constructive criticism, keep it coming, it'll only make the final product better :)
