Making things clear

I was merely making myself clear about the .NET crapola. At no time did I flame anyone, just stated my position.

Some people (like me) don't appreciate being force-fed. In view of this I will bid you folks adieu.

This is my last post and visit to WR's site/game, so don't worry about offending me with flames or whatever. :)

Personally I think if you are that worried about possible exploits then take yer PC and ANY electronic device you may own and return them to the store as everything has holes in it somewhere and it isn't a security hole then it is something that will give you cancer.

Not trying to flame etc etc just my thoughts after reading the funk pile in the thread about the new patcher. I have seen more exploits in linux, bsd, sco, java, you name the package I prolly had to fix it somewhere.

Anyway tata for now .. and have a nice day.

Sorry that you feel the need to quit over this - but I ask you to take a look at this thread prior to leaving. It's not that you were being forced to install .NET onto your system, it just takes a little time to get an optional solution set up.

I'm usually not one to get bent out of shape.. but get with the times..

.NET has been out for quite some time now.. Many programs are becoming wrote with it, and thus require it to be on your system.. I have had .NET installed on my machines for over 2.5 years now.. and I am glad I have.

I have even run VB.NET before and wrote some small scripts.. good stuff.. basicaly codes for ya! gotta love that. =)

if you want to complain about someone force feeding you... complain to Microsoft.. They are the ones that stoped supporting Visual Basic, and moved everything to VB.NET..

I installed the 1.1 patch as soon as it came out (at the Windows update site, not WR) even though I don't run any apps that require it (until now). I don't see what the big deal is.

I don't see what the big deal is either... If you love EQ, you'll drop your little boycott that isn't making a dent in microsoft or in anyone's mind.

I'm not sure I understand why someone would even fuss about this.........

Then you don't understand his point of view and you really shouldn't comment. This is how flames start and trolls are fed.

Context is everything. I don't understand why a vegan cares so much about killing livestock, but I respect their decision to avoid certain foods.

Now, as soon as WR comes back up, I too will stop trolling :)

I don't either. Honestly, I hate microsoft. I have to deal with their insecure products on a daily basis, I'm a network admin for a k-12 school district, you can't IMAGINE what these kids try to get away with... and all that said, I have NO reason not to run .net runtime.

Hell its been on my pc since I installed VS.NET to develop a monitor for the trouble-ticket system I wrote. My home pc has No antivirus, no firewall on the pc itself, just a hardware router between me and the internet and I've never gotten a virus or been "hacked". Regardless of the fact that vs.net runtime has been there.

Personally I could see complaining if you were on dialup because the download is pretty big, but other then that... (shrug). Spreading FUD dosn't work for Microsoft, and it dosn't work against them, either.

did you know that human saliva has like 30 times more germs in it than.... well... lets say dog saliva...

that's pretty gross man... we may as well boycott producing saliva...

or swapping it for that matter...

who's with me? :911:
