Make Quest NPCs *SAY* When Your Faction Is Too Low

Yesterday I walk up to Lady Arbyrall and hand her the items to enhance my mantle. She took them and didn't give me anything back. After getting some sleep I start working on collecting the items again and Lady Niall wouldn't fork over the bag. It was around this time I remembered the permanency Iksar Illusion I had received and noticed she was staring at me dubiously. After clicking it off she was more than happy to hand me the bag.[/b]

Did you try and talk to her? To my knowledge, most quest npcs will only tlak to you when you have the requisite faction. Should always try and do the text with them before turning in the items.

The problem I had with the quest is I received the instructions in my natural form and during the course of developing the strength needed to gather the neccessary items I obtained a permanent illusion. When I obtained the final item I had been in the Iksar form for several hours and thus the faction modifiers from it had slipped my mind.

I recall a few shopkeepers giving me an earful when I tried to utilize their services without sufficient faction. Why can't the Quest NPCs speak up?

Because there's no way to do that without manually editting all 1000ish quest files unless you want a_froglok05 in Mielech telling you you're not good enough friends with him to do his nonexistant quest when you hail him.

The server should know if the NPC has a quest. However, each quest may require a different faction and the server does NOT know that unless Wiz writes some l33t code to parse the quest file for a faction requirement. That code may take a bit too much time for the little gain it gives.

Attack/death messages are stored in quest files.

Hm, I don't see your point ;(

Edit: Unless you're trying to say that ONLY the attack and death messages are stored in the quest files, which doesn't sound right to me.

I must've been smoking something good, I don't see my point either.

Nevermind.
