Make pet follow behind me please.?

Hey.
Ive noticed that here on SoD pets are always staying to the SE of my character.
At first it was a little cute and annoying. then it just became annoying.
Hes always in the way, either in front of me covering were i want to see when sitting or just generally annoying to have there.

I dont know what you guys think but id really like a command that we whom do not like him to the side of us can use to make him follow as they did on live.
something like
/cm pet dontbeannoyingandgobehindme
/cm pet iwantyouintheway
would be grand

Thoughs?

Thanks

To me he just always gets in the way.
Id really prefeer to just have him behind me acting as if he was on /follow

its really a matter of taste i guess.
im sure some people prefer the way it is now. Tis why i suggested the command thing for choosing which way you like, if thats possible ?
Gotta be more people than me annoyed at it ?

Fair enough. I've just never had a problem with it myself.

I'd have to agree. When I was a newb I used to always accidentally trade crap to my pet (yes I realize I should have paid more attention to the trade window, thnx). I'm not really sure it's something that can be changed though.

Pets seem to always position themselves to the southeast of your character (it's actually one way I used to tell what direction I was facing on Live before the compass was implemented). When facing or moving in a south-easterly direction, it makes it feel more obvious that your pet is 'in your face', because that's their position orientation in relation to you.

If you get to a high enough level your pet follows you around by flying.

I never realized the direction they took that's kinda neat :psyduck:

Wait, how is this annoying?

Go over to gorge and stare at the elder on the sidepath and you'll see. Surprised you never noticed how that gets to be a pain in the balls.

Good suggestion

Eh.

It just never bothered me is all.

If I had to put money on it, I'd imagine this isn't changeable / is too difficult to change. However as someone who has played a mage on the server a few times, I know it can be a nuisance.

My recommendation is to get tiny companion. It's a relatively low level spell which makes your pet sub-gnome sized.

the druid pet bear is huge in size even after being shrunk compared to the other bipedal pets (Two-legged).

And I agree with Charlie.. it can be very annoying, like when the pet specifically seeks out buggy areas and when you sit there constantly makes the same noise as if hes falling and landing over and over again ;)

Chiming in that yes it is annoying, but really only rarely. When you are tucked into a corner or something and need to look SE though, hoo boy is it annoying.

Would be nice if you could maybe do like /pet swap and have it flip to 180 degrees of where it normally stands. I have no idea how hard that would be to implement.

I think my bear is the same size as that of the druid pet but being large myself I always have shrink on my spellset unless i plan to in the same place for an extended period of time. Even then i end up using it a lot

Are commands and pathing for pets included in the NPC pathing created for this server? And can settings for commands pertaining to a pet be saved with your character, so that they are persistent even after zoning? (ala /cm pet name?) Both player and NPC pathing have been changed before iirc, and expanded and/or persistent pet controls would be a tasty unique feature for the server; and maybe as progression for pet classes, as a tome/focus/re-worked AA/spell progression/quest reward/etc that wouldn't effect any of a pet's stats pertaining to power or balance like dps, tanking ability, resists, or hitpoints.

movement commands like:
following at a different spot relative to caster,
travel X direction,

or

guarding another player or a list of players,
remaining in /pet hold for an amount of damage/attacks sustained by the caster,
not engaging a specified mob or mob specified by a value (min. level, max level, faction with the caster, something like that) in combat,
sticking to one mob in a group rather than constantly switching to the one with the most aggro at any moment,
toggle on/off trades with pet (I guess i'm a newb i still do that),
more ideas,

Maybe something like the trophies in the house, where an npc presents you with a list of choices.

Or a set of /cm commands for more actions as was suggested

The system is old, and I'd like to think my pet control/use is good, but it's human. Pet commands that haven't been custom made are not persistant, and there's a lot of zoning in this game. Bankers get killed, guards get killed, perplexing assisting green npc's get killed, faction gets killed, items get eaten. I don't think avoiding all of these things is really indicative of good pet control, it's more like learning to deal with your pet, not how to use them in any of their useful roles. Custom pet behaviour, if feasible, could eliminate all of that bs.

My guess is that theyve specifically made pets this way here on SoD, this since they arent like that on live, and therby can change the way they follow.

All that would be nice, especially the thing about pets not caring who does most damage to them and just attacking what i tell them to.
But id be happy if they just stopped always being in SE corner and followed behind me

Id prefeer just a regular follow to that aswell as then your stuck with doing a /cm switch instead, if the group is moving around the direction of which is annoying to have him in will change and doing a /cm switch everytime will to me probably just increase the annoyingness. With the follow behind me way hell always be behind me when i move which is were i want him.
Tell pet to guard here. Do what you need.
Problem with that is if you need pet to back up he walks back to his guarding spot instead of running back like he would if he was on follow

After you grow some more level's you'll learn some things about pets such as /cmd pet hold and when your higher level you'll be moving faster than your pet due to a buff or aa either way you won't notice the little guy 99% of the time unless he is attacking something

When you hit pet hold, and recall him back to you, he ends up ontop of you and no longer obstructs your vision.

See above.

If you were going to make a tome unlockable /cm command that would get your pet out of your face when you aren't using him it should probably just make him disappear all together. Your pet can shift to another plane and then pop back out of your face when you tell him to attack, guard, or whatever. It's got a built-in plausible lore reason why you wouldn't be able to use it in certain areas where the devs wouldn't want you to be able to hide your pet from an AoE or whatever.
