Major lag/freeze issues

Okay, I'm at my wits end. It doesn't matter what zone, I've even had it happen at the char select screen, but I keep lagging/freezing.

I've played with my datarate.txt to the point it's at 1.0. At this point, I can see what happens at least. My left side stays anywhere from 50-200, the % goes up to 70+, and the right side goes to 12k+, then down to 0 (red all the way).

I've updated all drivers. Running NET 1.1, W2K. Turned level of detail, every graphic off.

Tried reducing hardware accel on graphics card. Tried every tweak I know for raiding on "the Game".

Ping gets me such variable results... from 47ms to timeouts. Reset router (Siemens 6520) a bunch*. Rebooted*, repatched*, stood on my head, cussed, did the no lag gods dance, everything I can think of.

Forced DNS, got static IP from router, what the hell am I missing?

*a bunch = every time I changed something.

My debug.txt shows nothing, but a ton of:

[Sat Feb 17 16:21:46 2007]10684:MSG_TIME_STAMP received. (Items inc).

[Sat Feb 17 16:21:46 2007]10685:MSG_TIME_STAMP received.

[Sat Feb 17 16:21:47 2007]10692:MSG_TIME_STAMP received. (Items inc).

[Sat Feb 17 16:21:48 2007]10694:MSG_TIME_STAMP received. (Items inc).

I've deleted my eqclient.ini, eqw.ini, log.txt. Only thing I haven't done is delete my dgb.txt, which I'm trying next.

Any *other* ideas?

Have you port forwarded the ports everquest uses?

I'm pretty sure its all UDP, but if you only get one chance to tell these guys what you need, I'd suggest you request both UDP and TCP.

UDP 5997 - Loginserver
UDP 9000 - World Server
UDP 7770-7794, 7950-8091 - Zone servers

Try enabling UPNP on your router, if you're using W2k I think you'll need to install something in order to enable it on that OS.

Port forwarding with all those (UDP) done. No change. *sigh* Trying to add TCP as well, see if that will help....

Getting *really* frustrated. :what:

BTW, every time I do something, I have to repatch all, or 1017 error? Even if I just log on, wait 10 minutes to see if lag fixed, log off?

1017 usually occurs when there's a lot of clients trying to connect to the server, and no you don't have to repatch.

I would wait a few to see if the lag has fixed itself.
