Magi MS spell line swap out

Wiz has posted that he would like to see magicians stop playing 'pet cleric' so much, so here is one of my contributions to this line.

Request:
Is it possible to swap the Monster Summoning spell line (currently not implemented anyway) for a cold based version of a nuke of similar level to the MS spell level?

Reasoning:
Most of our DD spells used during the level when we get the MS line are fire based.
This could help us during fights against mobs that are more resistant to fire.
Perhaps even giveing the spell a minor debuff to (vs. fire) like the Druid's Ice spell is.


Of course, add in now the possibility of a fourth spell (maybe level 63 or so) for similar problems on raids.
This is probably a stupid suggestion, but then again: I'm full of those.
 
our magic line is another line of spells, true. But what I am specifically refering to is the spell commonly used at the same time the Monster summoning line is recieved.

We can swap down to lower level spells, true enough. But this would give us another option, and find a use for a spell line not currently in service.

How does this relate to having a completely useless line of spells swapped for something thats semi useful?

I'm saying that changing it to another DD isn't the best choice. Wizards already have that. Lets' look at other options.
 
I'm still intending to get monster summoning working, so STOP requesting replacements. If you want additional spell lines just request those to be added instead!

What if mages could summon a ice based golem that lasted for a certain duration - not really like a pet since they wouldnt have any control over it. This way they would still be "conjuring". Is somthing like that even possible and allow them to still have their pets? It could kinda be a spell form of HoE but only 1 golem w/ pure ice dmg.

sorry wiz, but I could have sworn that you said you didnt intend to make MS work.
 
Since there are 4 monster summonings.... what about something like this. (And i did hear you wiz, im just blathering)


You make the spells able to grow with the mage, and have each 4 summon a golem of a different element. Make each pet resistant to its element, and have it proc a dmg spell on its own resist. Also have the spells grow with the caster, so that the lower lvl one is as powerful as the higher lvl one as you get the later golems. This would solve the mage resist issues, and be very cool in the proccess ). Put a time duration on them to cap their DPS, and give them moderate HPs so that if an AE hits them that isnt their element, they go poof. I could even think of the golem models to use.

yea thats pretty much what I had said above - but specifically ice only. A small version of the ice golem dude in everchill would be sweet 8)
