Mage Starfall Quest

*fake Tinkerbell*
I've just finished it and feel I could share it with others :)

ICE OF SHOJAR

MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: RANGE
Focus Effect: Bane Enchancement III
INT: +5 MANA: +50
SV COLD: +15
Weight: 0.1 Size: Tiny
Class: MAG
Race: ALL

To get it, you need:
* pearl shattered totem (Sea of Swords) - on the island with giants in the middle of map (you don't need to kill them, it lays on the floor at the monolith)
* ice of frozen caves in Everchill (at the entrance from Everfrost - it is hard to do alone, since there are 5 mobs from dark blue to yellow to level 40. Those goblins (or orcs, can't remember, sorry :D) drop it - I think every one does.)
* slab of magic (from gargoyles in Obsidian Shard Mountains - they are southwest in the map, near hill giants, dark blue to level 40, but you can do them one by one. I got it from the second spawn)

STAFF OF THE ELEMENTS

MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 1H Blunt Atk Delay: 25
DMG: 11
Effect: (Must Wear Clicky, Instant)
Focus Effect: Companion Health III
STR: +2 DEX: +2 STA: +2 CHA: +8 INT: +8 AGI: +2
SV FIRE: +6 SV DISEASE: +6 SV COLD: +6 SV POISON: +6
Weight: 3.3 Size: Medium
Class: MAG
Race: ALL

To get it, you need:
* earthern staff (from insane brownie in Lesser Faydark - it is located in northwest part of the zone - just not in their city, but in a tower. It is alone and light blue to level 40. I think i got it in the 4th spawn.)
* flowing current (from air elementals in South Badlands. Their well is placed northeast from the entrance of Paw. Look carefully, because it is easy to miss it between those trees. There are 4 air elementals, dark blue again).
* polished sleet of Everfrost ice (those ice giants at the zone to Everchill drop it, they're dark blue again) - it is not a chunk of ice (those can be sold to merchants).
* rock of solid red sun lava (the best way to get it is to be invisible all the time and posiibly with a SoW. You can pick it up from the floor near the zone in Red Sun Peaks. Be careful, because that is a hostile enviroment :p)

Good luck, I hope I helped you! :D

Before I set up a new thread I would like to see if anyone will answer here.

I just helped Kreva with her first Starfall piece, the Ice of Shojar.
Is it suggested, that the ice shard drops from the Orcs in Everchill?
I helped her out with Luas, 55 necro fyi and I wasn't able at all to split the mobs and then kill them, she on her own wouldn't have any chance do get them down.
We got help by a 65 Monk passing but this is in my opinion way to hard for a mid-level quest.

Anyone of you figured the same problems?
Compared to my Necros Starfall this is insane, even the ghoulish seer in Shrouded was soloable around Level 40 for me and he was the hardest mob to kill.

Send your pet in to attack the orcs (all 5 will aggro). Run to the zoneline. Dismiss pet (if it's, by some miracle, not dead yet).

Cast root on one of the orcs as they run to execute you, then immediately zone.

Once outside, summon another pet, zone back in. The rooted one will still be there. Send pet on it, and voila, you've got your solo orc.

Will do.
I will do that for sure.
After you showed me the mage root ;)
Not every mage is supposed to have help by a rooting class, keep that in mind.

Earth pet root is extremely short-lived. By the time you zone out and zone in, the orcs will be back at their spot.

The Ice of Shojar is not nearly as useful as the Staff of the Elements, I finally went and picked mine up at level 59 but it was just to complete the set. The difficulty for obtaining it seems kinda out of whack, yeah.

Wouldn't the earth pet's root do the trick? or would it fade when the pet left?

Besides that the Orcs will eat your 34 pet in no time.
You would need to let it attack, get it back to zoneline, reattack, then zone.
And the mobs where 1 DB con, 4 LB con to a 55 Necro so it is nearly impossible to split the mob and besides that...you can't kill any of thos mobs at 34 or if you like to 40.

so are we saying that you need to have someone with you who can root in order to make it work?
or am i missing what the mage root spell is?
since it's not the earth pet...

Mage root is Earthsplit, level 60 I believe. This is essentially a Starfall item that needs help/a group to obtain if you want it in the 30-50 level range, which is not that bad really. Not everything is soloable.

FYI too, the Staff now has a Level 30 Requirement ... only Starfall I've seen so far to have one.

I dunno if a 30-40 or maybe 45 group will be enough.
Just not sure about it and I think it is surprisingly hard to obtain compared to for example Necro starfall.
You can kill EVERY mob solo at lvl 40 without any problem.
Just comparing, can't tell from other mobs.

When I was doing the quest at 41, my bf helped me with his necro, which had to be around 50 back then.
We ran in, killed one, zoned, repeated 5 times. Not to mention we had to summon new pets and med each time.
I also think it's impossible to do at level 30 and alone.

Also mage root is 61, yes, and very bad. I haven't tried it since the resist changes, but even before them it got resisted and lasted ~5 seconds each time.

I don't know, how other mages dealt with it, but I suppose that they had either full groups or higher level friends to help them.

I just ran in one day to find the red con dead and the blue cons dead.. I just waited for the blues to respawn and killed em.. got it on the first kill.
