Mage Rains (again)

Bridger

Dalayan Beginner
The other day I was fortunate enough to obtain the Robe from Hellhound. Now this has a focus effect which gives +50 to Magic damage. Now my previous Robe gave me damage of (1606, 1606, 1606) for the 3 waves of my Magic based rain spell. I now get (1626, 1606, 1606).

Now i ASSUME that the +50 is an adjustment to the BASE damage and that it will be subject to various adjustments. So I would expect to see an increase of 50

x 1.20 (20% from Codex of Power)
x 1.21 (21% from DI7 Item)
x 1.08 (6% from Jayla's Impact + 2% from MM tome)
x 1.02 (2% from Shiriti's Favor)

So I would expect to get an increase to damage of 80 - say 27 for EACH of the 3 waves of the rain instead of just 20 for just the first wave.

I suspect that what is happening is that there are TWO errors.
(a) That only the Codex of Power increment is being applied.
(b) Despite the division by 3 to spread the damage across the 3 waves it is NOT being applied to the second and third waves.

Could someone have a look at this for me.

Thanks.

Elemental damage from items is just a flat out increase and not affected by codici or foci at all, so what you should see is and increase of (50/3 = 16.6, rounded down to 16).

Why you see what you actually see beats me.

Well what happens with Mage rains is a sensitive issue with me (in case you had not guessed).

So thanks for having a look at it for me.

actually codices do effect Elemental dmg nwaij

so he should get 50x 1.20 (20% from codex) = 60 dmg total, 20 per wave.

if codices aren't supposed to effect elemental damage, then it's bugged. you can test pretty easily ingame that they do (and zoroths post is one example)

Well I was only guessing that the +50 had been increased by 20% to make 60 and divided by 3 to give +20 to the first wave - and attributed this to codices.

However it makes no sense to me that codices should be applied but not other tomes and item effects.

No No No.

I am comparing with and without HH Robe.
The ONLY difference to Magic damage is the +50 from the Robe.
The dagger is there for the 1606 (w/o robe) as well as for the 1626 with robe.

Ok Scrub the above - You are right and I am wrong.

Just retested with old Robe. Waves are 1609, 1606 1606 consistent with receiving +10/3 on first wave only.
With HH robe 1626 1606 1606 consistent with receiving (+50+10)/3 on first wave only.

I'm a math major so I can tell you with a degree of authority that 60/3 = 20.

Also Codex boost is the 5th thing checked and elemental damage from gear is the 7th but I anxiously await the results of these simple tests to show that this is wrong.

I have retracted - see the edit to my post above.

I believe you are correct in saying there are NO modifiers to the Magic damage.

(Maths graduate - so unable to do simple arithmatic)

oh, zoroth faked me out with that dagger.

i remember testing elemental damage bonuses with meister over a year ago and codices (and only codices) affected them then. Flawless Crystal Mail (10 cold) added 12 damage to Neaoi's nuke.

While I have your attention and (hopefully) you are checking the code, another issue.

While (fire) raining on 2 targets I noticed that target 1 was damaged for 1907 while target 2 was damaged for 1870. Now 1907 is 2% greater than 1870 so I am guessing that something (Shiriti????) is not being applied to the second target.

Isn't there some randomness to the spells as well I know alot of my DD's vary in damage from casting to casting on the same mob. Mind you I am a druid

Did you proc shiritris favor on both mobs?

The allocation of the plus Magic damage across Rain waves appears to have been sorted.

My thanks to all concerned.
Much appreciated.
