Mage info

I have a couple questions concerning mages.. if there's any high level mages here that wouldn't mind sharing.

1) How do mages fare here? Is it fairly easy to find groups? Easy to solo? Or hard, gimped?

2) Are the pets the same as on live, basically fire earth water and air? And do you buy them normally as spells or are they quest rewards?

3) What would you consider the best class to 2-box with a mage? I was considering shaman for heals/slows/pet buffs, cleric for straight heals, or maybe a chanter for mind crack and slows. How would a duo like mage and chanter fare with no healer?

I've been playing World of Warcraft since it's release so i'm still trying to get back into the EQ mindset, basically of every class not being an uber soloer 1-60.

Thanks in advance :)

I've been playing a mage on WR and I used to play one of live...so here goes...

1) Mages are a lot better here. Pets are stronger and they have cut out all the crap spells. Just the meat and potatoes spells, damages spells, pets spells, etc. I don't group much since I only do the bonus exp zones but it is pretty good to solo with a mage on this server. You should have no problems if you know what you are doing and don't pull crazy stuff.

I play late night so I don't see other players often, unless I go to newport for supplies and such.

2) Same as live, pet and other spells can be found in Newport up to lvl 50 I believe. You don't have to do research for them like on live. Higher ones are around the world and can be bought. Staff of Magi spell is quested. Others are raid drops I believe.

3) 2 Box? Pass. But if I had to I guess I would do an enchanter for breeze and stuff. Not really into the 2 boxing stuff. I'd rather have another machine set up for torrents and what not.

Duel client is what I meant to say, i'll be doing it on one PC just two client.

THanks for the info, mages sounding better and better.
