Mage Class Development

some of those ideas are pretty good in my opinion.
it just seems mages arent as great as they used to be. not so much saying we need all new powerful/ modified current spells... but just little things that used to be in that made it a little more fun to play. Summoned: Bag of Party Favors (i believe) in live was just a little dash of fun, summoned food, drink, alcohol, spin the bottle, and fire works.. just for flavor but made it more fun to be a mage ya know?
being a mage, im of course biased here... im not going to try to feign innocence here =P but still, removing the summon <cloth, leather, chain, plate> spells was kinda odd too. granted no one really used them before anyway, but it was nice to play with.
in addition to that though, i do think a few "needed" items would be nice. haste ring is spectacular addition in SoD, weapons of Power are nice as well, but maybe a few other small tweaks or spells could make a difference. in a group i know mages do decent dps, pet is great, nukes are good... but i dont know. i guess i dont really have any real hard data to support much.. just some suggestions i s'pose.
