Low end 65 necro soloing

I hate to make a post like this, but I've been out of the game since Winter's Roar, and I'm curious what the best spots are for a 65 necro to solo. I have no AAs, and gear isn't very good (it was good for its time, but if I spent the same on gear now as I did back then, I'd be way better off). I don't even really have any of the good spells (still using the... level 59? pet), so I'm having a hard time finding a solo spot that I can both hold and gives decent exp / money. The money aspect is maybe even more important as I really need to re-outfit my character, but AA is obviously really important as well. I've spent a lot of time in-game but haven't really found the right spot yet... I saw that Crystal Caverns seemed to be in the right level range and some of the loot dropped were decent upgrades, but I couldn't handle the majority of the mobs solo with my gear & no AA. I used to spend a lot of time in the Lands of Magic (or whatever it was called, Luclin), but obviously that's not a choice anymore :D. Hopefully this post doesn't seem "lazy," it's just I've spent a lot of time trying to find the best spot to no avail so hoping someone else has some ideas. I also have this strange new issue where I get d/ced a lot when zoning, which makes travel a bit of a pain.

EW Orcs (might be a bit harder)
Dragon Necropolis rats
Sorc Lab
West Freeport (parts of it)

There are a few other areas out there, but that should be enough to start.

Maybe the issue is my tactics, but none of these areas seem very "kitey". It seems the 59 pet is fairly useless to me, as it can't outlive anything that would give me exp, and always ends up tanking even if I turn taunt off. This is with Emissary of Kaezul with Companion Health V. I'm currently trying the rats and I don't know... seems kind of slow and I can't find anyplace with room to move.

Edit: I think the tone of the message was a little off... thanks for recommending DN rats cause it is definitely an improvement over what I was finding before.

Snare kiting on a necro never seemed very effective to me. When I soloed with Paxx, I just rooted three mobs at once and then dotted them all. I had my pet up just in case root broke and i needed my pet to either taunt it off or to take a few hits before I got it re-rooted.

Once you figure out where mobs spawn in DN, it can be profitable and easy. Most are two pulls with one 3 pull and one 4 pull. You can avoid the alchemist downtstairs and the potential 9 pull up top.

As far as the plaguelands go...there are TONS of mobs to kill, and you have lots of room to kite. The money there is pretty terrible, but make sure to keep any giant asp skins you may find.

There are also Plaguelandquests (get 'em in the tunnels) to do, they yield a ton of XP and at least one Upgrade I do remember - some Wand, can't find it on the Wiki atm.
