Losing experience ?

Okay, what gave me this idea is this situation:
I 2-box a SK and a Cleric. Been doing the Haunted Treant (max lvl 32) for a while, until I got about everything I wanted from it. So I happened to get lvl 33 with the SK. Then the new adepts were added, including Sandjaw, max lvl 32. Did him with the cleric (and another alt lvl 32) and it dropped some damn cool ring for a tank. I had sworn to myself I wouldn't miss any adepts after stupidly getting lvl 26 w/ cleric without checking the Wind Hag level (max 25)..

Now, I think it would be cool to implement some ways of losing xp. Like a pointless quest or something like that. I don't see ways of abusing it unless the items with *required lvl x* stay equipped when you lose a lvl.. But still, who would do that ? :brow:
On the other hand it would be cool to fix the little mistakes like the one I made... A few less xp's and I would be so much more happy

I, also get very frustrated when I find out there is an adept up, but it is one or two levels below me and I can't engage it. Being able to drop a level or two off would a pretty nice feature, unfortunately I see a lot of potential for exploitation, too :psyduck:

Umm perhaps make it like a giant debt like thing ?
So you could lose a max of 2 levels or so that you would have to repay before being in normal status again.
And you can't lose more xp than that set limit.
That would reduce the possible exploits I guess..

uhhh yeah. What's keeping you from starting another character to hit those targets? I've killed 4 adepts now between 20 and 27 and have three pieces of their gear. I've narrowly missed out on 3 or four adepts as well. You'll always miss things, if you really want to kill them that badly make an alt specifically dedicated to killing each adept.

Well yeah, but adepts are more bang for your buck, and the gear in most cases causes people to be amazed(or semi amazed). I can't count the number of people who've asked my brother if his warrior's a twink just because of the fact that he hits on average for over 100 damage, saw him crit for 278 at lvl 26, when all that really happened is that he helped out on a Spectral Hunter raid and got the scythe. Plus most of the other ways to improve your gear involves either forking over a ton of plat or getting lucky and getting a group to go camp a named with you. I've been trying for a few days now to get a Water Mage group together because I want her robe so badly.

You do understand that there is more than just loot from adepts that can upgrade your character.
I found this to be a great way to get some "unique" items. I also go into dungeons but there will be like billions of those on the market very soon. Also I like the adepts just because of the raid style. I played EQ for years and those adepts are something new that really make me stick to WR these times. I don't want to go farming like in EQl.
Now I don't get what's wrong with being able to lose like a level or two before reaching the "cap" of lost xp. How would you exploit that ? :?

uhm... since you're already a step ahead of the 26-32 adept raid group why don't you just continue to level up ... farm pp, then buy better stuff from PC vendors? There are better things on the server than the adept mobs. Or start a new twink char to lvl fast.

I seriously doubt any admin will let you de-level..

I remember back on live when they lowered the engage limit for naggy and vox. Folks would line up a row of corpses to de-level to be able to attend the raid for a chance at their epic piece. And of course they had a cleric there to rez them back up afterwards.

Sweet. Seriously.

edit: To answer the post before this one.. Well make it un-recuperable. Like no corpse involved, just a loss of xp.

I know, that's why I have like 4 characters and have tried to play in or at least visit every zone under lvl 30. But Marcel being my main (with the cleric), I'd like to be able to do the adept with him..
I don't get what's so "bad" in the idea :(

Making a new character kind of completely misses the point of trying to get adept loot for your main.
