Looking for some advice

Hi there I've recently starting playing a fair bit again and decided to pull an old warrior of mine of the back bench he's still low but I hope to slowly fix that.

You can view him here http://shardsofdalaya.com/fomelo/fomelo.php?char=dugrak, At the moment I am working on the antique plate quest... which leads to my questions, what should I focus on stat wise when I get around to getting new equipment I saw a really good guide on good hate getting weapons but nothing on making my tank the bubbly meat shield he was meant to be :)

Thanks for any advice given.
also if anyone needs a lowbie tank (for whatever send a tell if I am on I am looking forward to getting the basics of tanking down.)

AC and HP make a larger difference than str/sta/agi/dex if you're just trying to be the biggest tank possible. High AC/HP gear is expensive though so that might be an issue.

I highly recommend leveling to 55 and hanging out there for awhile. A sad truth about SoD is the fact that fresh 65 tanks are at a larger disadvantage then other classes. Staying at 55 to work on some AAs with a box healer or DPS (assuming you find a friend with a healer, or just box your own healer) and get a bit of cash from Lasanth or Crystal Caverns.

At 55 you can tank either of those zones pretty handily, and the money gain is pretty nice for the level. Save up for some higher AC/ HP items that will beef you up before 65. Getting to 65 with maybe 100AA and a solid load of buyable gear will put you sitting nicely for on level early content. I would recommend checking out some of these items in auction once you build up some platinum.

Smooth Granite Armlet
Beads of Stone
Stalwart Sash
Adamant Kirt'Sek Pincer
Manacles of Dread
Perfectly Formed Stone
Granite Helm
Iksar Scale Earing
Enforcer's Guard
Pauldrons of Ferocity
Seal of the Farhag

Also ensure you take care of your Warrior Starfall/ Thurgadin quests if/when able. You can get some decent item through those quests.

Warrior Starfall Quest: Boots of Spite = Boots of Spite
Warrior Starfall Quest: Obsidian Razor (This quest is only "OK" as Warriors benefit a bit more from 1handers over 2h) = Obsidian Razor

Warrior Thurgadin Quest: Glamorous Visor = Glamorous Visor (This quest is really nice due to the amazing mask for the level. Also it allows you to do work on another quest for a weapon at the same time Dawnpride Quest of Manhood Which will yield a weapon worth the effort pristine Ruby Hilted Longsword
Warrior Thurgadin Quest: Spear of Provocation = Spear of Provation This weapon will work well with the Ruby Hilted Longsword if you choose to do the quest. Together you should hold aggro pretty will early on (along with using the great stance system Warriors now have).

All in all looking into some of that gear or generic crafted gear such as Deepmetal Armor and getting a little pile of AA's built up before 65 will help you alot. If you choose to rush to 65 and be equipped with Soft Leather armor or patchwork plate and chain armor you will have a much harder time then others in the same situation.

What this guy said. I don't know why my mind went right past AC. Maybe because I am used to seeing all tank usable items having huge AC and HP by default.

Tank gear usually has tons of Str and Sta,these 2 will grow naturally as you progress through the game.
So I would look out for Hps,AC,Dex,then the rest - in this order(ignoring resists for now).
My (overpwered) 55 Pally has 300+ Str,260 Sta,only 207 Dex and I hate this stats distribution,
a Shammy Dex buff which brings him to 255+ Dex is very noticable in regard to being able
hitting mobs.

Even parsing a 2% accuracy difference is a pretty big pain in the ass.

Killing the same 5 nameds/phs over and over again (for cash for aug) I know exactly how long it
takes, with 255+ Dex I make it ~2m before repops start, with 207 almost exactly on repops
starting - no parsing needed.

Yeah this is worthless, hth

Just to clarify- I've seen my accuracy vary by 5% over 5-6 minute parses with identical stats/gear/mob/everything.

Ulandx said dex makes a difference and followed up with ",with 255+ Dex I make it ~2m before repops start, with 207 almost exactly on repops

I think uland's post about clear and repops is better than I did xxx dps with yyy accuracy mainly because small differences will always occur and at then end of the day it's all about efficiency and that what his is about. He can do his rotation much faster and more efficient with more dex thus it's important to him

Ulandx is saying: When I use high octane fuel my 1/4 mile time is improved by 2 seconds.

Other folks are saying: That's not accurate because according to the dyno it only gives you a 5 horse-power boost and track conditions vary from run to run.

The track's where it matters baby. Aug Dex.

Yeah but would you trust some guy that doesn't even know how to quote??!?

Trying to get things back on track here.

Don't be afraid to buy vender-able gear that vitali mentioned. You might spend 3k on a piece of gear and vender it for 2.5k when you upgrade it.

A healing box was mentioned as well. I hate to say it but this will get you in a guild allowing you to gear the healer make friends then allowing it easier for you to take your warrior on Off night raids or Maps ect... This is the most "Effective" least fun way to get gear.

If you want to do it the fun way. Get a following, start a guild and MT your way to upgrades.

Given that the guy is expressing that he's made an unusual gearing decision and is happy with it based on his perception of his personal results, I'd be inclined to try it myself and see.

I suppose I'm answering "yes".
