Login Difficulties

Occasionally (particularly after WR patches or when the client crashes) I get an empty Server Selection menu when I log in. Sometimes if I log out/log in out several times, I will see all the servers as normal, but when I select Winters Roar it hangs after ~10 seconds and I get a Windows dialog box that says "eqgame.exe has generated errors and must be closed."

This usually fixes itself after a while (ranging from a few hours to a day or more), and tends to happen at least once a week. I didn't start getting this problem until a couple weeks ago when a new patch came out (the one that mentioned something about fixing some crashing problems).

No one else on the forum seems to have posted the same problem, so as far as I know, I'm the only person getting this problem.

Usseful Information:
I have not patched to live in months, so it's probably not that.
I do not get any error in particular... no 1017 or whatever it is.
My eqhost.txt file is okay.
I have tried using both "eqlogin4..." and "lethalencounter..." but both seem to do the same.
 
The only thing from that WR Patcher that could possibly affect the login server is the eqhost file.

Is it possible that it's a connection problem on your end? If not, check the stickies and see if those help at all. I've never heard of this problem before, unfortunately. :(
 
Well, the problem fixed itself yesterday afternoon, but broke again last night before I went to bed. The EXACT same thing happend: when I zoned from Warrens to Erimal at about 11:00PM pst, the client froze and I had to Alt-Ctrl-Delete out. I usually zone out of the Warrens just fine, but it seems suspicious that the last three times I've had this problem, I was zoning out of Warrens at around 10:00-11:00. :?

I am 100% sure my eqhost.txt file is ok--it's currently set to lethalencounter since eqlogin4 is down. I've also tried "24.174.185.97:5997" (IP of lethalencounter) with the same prob (get past login, but server select list is empty).

My connection is working fine. Internet works, and I AM able to at least get past the login screen (except on eqlogin4, which is down). No one else seems to be having the same problem, so I guess I'm screwed. ;(

EDIT:
Since today's patch, it now shows the server list when I log in, but it shows this little message that says "Scanning World Servers..." and doesn't let me do anything for about a minute. After that, I still get the same problem when I try to select the server: hangs after a minute, and I get a Windows dialog box that says "eqgame.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows."

I looked at the Windows crash log ("drwtsn32.log") and all I could really figure out is that eqgame.exe is crashing because of an access violation. I also looked through the error logs in the EverQuest folder, but none of them had anything recent in them.
 
I'm having the exact same problem, and its been happening alot more often now. I updated Game and DX to latest builds, and it only got worse.

Ouch, just realized the date of this topic lol..
