Loading into dream, graphics freeze after a short time.

So I'm trying to get my dad into the game, and his computer is having some problems.

He loads into the dream world and is able to play for a short time, and then he says the graphics go funky, freeze up and he can't do anything but ctrl alt delete to get out. He's updated his drivers, installed DX12, and I told him to try DX9C as well.

He is using Win 7 but I don't know any of his computer specs besides the fact he has an Nvidia card.
 
If he has eq play nice installed, tell him to uninstall it. It does not work with win7, and will crash you. (Just remembered that, from my laptop crashing issues.)
 
This is Isobars Dad, Old EQ player, game loads fine after about 60 secs, I get a bunch of little dots all over the screen and computer freezes, have to reset it, seems like a graphics bug of some sort, when I did bind 1 it did last for a couple minutes the first time, but does nothing any more, back to 60 secs or so and freezes up, did update my video driver but did not help, thought about DX9 but Win7 has 11 built in and no way to dump it. Any other Ideas would be sweet.

Test out a few other video games, maybe its just the video card itself, clean out the heat-sinks on the PC, make sure its not all backed up with dust and gunk.

Even power supply might do this if its on its way out, the 3d graphics may be drawing more wattage and if the Power Supply can't handle it, Poof.
 
try with and without eqplaynice, with/without eqw, and if you have an amd dual core processor get the amd dual core optimizer. if you have a seperate video card (or onboard video) you could try that to see if its the vid card
 
Intell Core I5 and G-force 8800GT vid card and Win 7 and 650watt PS, just fyi, tried new driver, cleaned computer so no dust in it, still same thing, will try eq nice also, have done eqw with and without and same thing
 
it is a mystery, best thing i can suggest would be to try a different video card, but i used to play on an 8800 gt just fine
 
Wait.. does this only happen in the dream? Perhaps your zone file is corrupt. Try loading one of your son's toons, and see if it happens elsewhere in the game.
 
Well after doing the things listed above and turning eqw off it finally started working and I spent the next hour trying to get out of Newport...lol

backspace to open the map, turn off height filter and also you can scroll in and out of it with the mousewheel
