Linux and Patching

I run wr on linux (with winex/cedega).

A problem arises because the wr patcher does not work with linux.

Till now I've been running the patcher on a win install, copying all the game files to the linux install and running eqgame.exe in linux. It seems to work well enough, but I'm not sure if I'm even doing anything. Running through the patcher is how the correct wr files are forced into use, right? But does it copy flies to the eq directory at any time? If not why does it work for me at all?

So I'm wondering how I can keep the files up to date correctly without using the patcher. I see the link in the download section, but are they kept up to date? That warning makes me think not.

Or is there a way/place I can check for new files via a script?
Hunting for options here; feedback appreciated. :)
 
Well that clarifies things somewhat.

Is there a way to download the same files the patcher does? Then I could have a script do basically the same thing. Though I imagine if there are security measures it's pointless.

Guess I'm stuck relying on the zip.

Edit: Or I'll just use the wrfiles directory on the patcher. Looks like the same files.
