Learn me some xbox

So since I was soooo good last year, i bought myself an xbox 360 for christmas.. and a fancy new tv to go with it. Luckily everyone I know already owns one, so I have the ability to pilfer all their game collections. Tell me what to play and why.

Im not real big on multiplayer, in fact, I haven't even hooked in to xbox live yet.

gears of war 2 and halo 3 were fun, but short. Also, is it just me, or do the first few missions in gears of war 2 parallel some of the missions in gears of war 1.. like.. almost exactly.. or am I remembering gears of war 1 wrong

the xbox came with a game called Pure thats a lot of fun.. atv racing game. I kinda suck at it.

also if theres anything else I need to know about xboxing, tell me that.
 
Try Dragon Age..

Good game, everyone says it has such a long storyline, 70hrs of gameplay, but I beat it in a week.
 
Elder Scrolls IV was the most engrossing game on 360 imo. Haven't really played anything on that console in a year or so though. GTA4 looked good, and I actually own it, but never got serious on it.

Coolest console out there for gaming atm. Be prepared for it to die an untimely death though. Everyone I know that plays theirs extensively is on their second or third box. Including me.

I got mine the week it came out, and I'm still on #1, I've played it a TON too.
 
I got that XBox 360 bundle with Pure (and Lego Batman) for Christmas, too. Mass Effect is a great RPG/shooter hybrid; I just finished it, and the sequel comes out later this month. Along those lines is Fallout 3, which is also a good play if you haven't yet.

You need to let us know 1) if you are interested in XBox Live Arcade games, since several of those are excellent, and 2) your preferred genres. I like JRPG's, shooters, and anything Atlus or Nippon Ichi touch, so my game choices are easy. Your mileage may vary.
 
Pure is fun. Lego Batman is meh, but.. it kept me slightly entertained for an hour or so. Maybe if I drink heavily it will become a better game.

I saw the commercial for mass effect 2 which looked pretty, ill check out the first one. Fallout 3 ive been through on PC (including the first 2 expansions).

when you say xbox live arcade games, you mean the downloadable ones? I actually have no concept of how that works or how much it costs, like i said, not online with xbox yet. All i know is im pretty sure the bionic commando reboot is downloadable, which makes me smile. one of these days i need to either buy the wireless xbox router, or run cable.

No preferred genre. I can enjoy a lot of things. shooter, adventure, arcade, rpg, racing.. i love "weird" games like the stuff Shiny released late 90s.. MDK and things like that. I tend to like games out of many genres, and loathe others in the same genre.. For instance. I like Pure. I hate Project Gotham Racing. I like halo and gears of war, but hate the entire medal of honor franchise. I like fallout 3, but couldnt get into elder scrolls games.

In the end, i left it vague on purpose. So everyone would just tell me what they like and I'd try it.

*edit* the game Too Human is pretty fucking dumb.

Really recommend Dragon age..

Also, Call of Duty MW2 is GREAT, but has a short storyline.. Best for multiplayer (Which you mentioned you don't have live).

Borderlands is cool. Kinda like Diablo 3d apocalyptic shooter.. Got boring for me after a while, though.

Just run your ethernet cable from your modem to the XBox for long enough to browse the downloadable content (then put it back). You don't need to stay online for most of the stuff, just long enough to, say, download Geometry Wars 2, Mega Man 9, Ikaruga, Banjo-Kazooie, etc.

Oh yeah, the arcade games are generally 400, 800, or 1200 points. That's 5, 10, or 15 bucks American. Huge bonus points if you have Netflix.
 
1 vs 100 is the best game for the XBox360, and it's free.

Past that, there's quite a few really great XBLA games like the ones Cless mentioned, Pac-Man Chamionship Edition, and Portal: Still Alive if you've somehow managed not to play Portal yet.

I highly reccomend the one that makes leiliana look more like the cgi among other things. I'm hoping for a way to play through as an apostate eventually too, because mage is just too fun and ridiculously good to bother playing as anything else past the backstory.
 
Castle Crashers was a good Arcade DLC. So was Mega Man 9. I believe Mega Man 10 will be released this March. Also, Ikaa, your Xbox comes with 1 free month of Xbox Live gold.

True, but it seems I still need microsoft money to download anything, movies or games. multiplayer gaming isnt really a draw for me currently, but it could be enjoyable. I do like co op gears of war.
