Lag problems while boxing. Please help.

Hello. I'm rather new to the SoD scene, but have played "The Game" on Live from Kunark to OoW. Regardless, I'm having some major problems while attempting to dual-box.

My computer can run quite a lot with no problems. I need a slight graphics card upgrade and 2 more sticks of RAM (motherboard limit), but that's about it. However, while running SoD I have a slight lag issue. My first time boxing it, I was able to do so on full graphics and such, without EQW, and had no fps lag. Now, when attempting to do so, I get a tad bit on both clients that slows down my mouse and some running/animation issues. I tried EQW and PlayNice with no change to my ultimate gameplay roughness. I'll post my computer stats to see if that helps get an idea of the problem at all.

Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600 2.40Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT 256MB
2G Ram (2 x 1G).

I'm willing to try anything. It's really ticking me off, seeing as it was fine before. If there was a thread with a similar problem, I apologize, but I couldn't find it.

what happens when you bind them to the same processor? Like 1 and 1. ? I have a dual core and bind both to same when I box (rarely). No clue if it makes any difference.

I'll give it a shot when I get a moment. I mean, this game isn't memory intensive at all, so I figured two on separate processors would run even smoother.

Aaaannd, it's working flawlessly so far. Thanks so much for the suggestions! Played a few days without boxing, and was so sad haha. This should be much more pleasant.

I'm having the same problem, so I tried everything on here (great ideas btw) and still have some issues with things like mouse speed / scroll speed.

First off, I tried doing /mousespeed 3 (or 2 or 5, just to test them all) and it led me to believe that it wasn't a mouse speed problem, it was a mouse lag / mouse framerate (if that makes sense) problem, as, it goes across the screen at about the right speed, but, it seems like it's lag'd and choppy. Same goes for mouse scroll. If I'm scrolling out to 3rd person, it takes about 10 seconds.

This is only when I use EQW btw. When I load up just one client via the patcher, and don't use EQW, it works beautifully, with no issues. And, even when I load just one window in EQW, it's the exact same effect (so, it's pretty safe to assume that my computer specs aren't the problem... but, just for reference sake... winxp pro sp3, 8gigs ram, nvidia 9600 'hotrodded' video card, intel duo core 1.6).

My only guess is that it's being throttled way back by playnice, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out where (if at all possible) you can edit the playnice settings. I know in later version of eqw, there's a setting that throttles CPU usage to what you like, and using my 'computer nerd' intuition, that's what it feels like it's doing.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

Had the same issue and did some investigation. Go go, handy MCSE certification.

I found that EQ on EQW pages memory a LOT. When I had 2 eqgames running in EQW it started to chop. Not sure if this is caused by someone who wrote EQ windows to try to keep EQ friendly to other programs, but that is where my suspicion lies.

My solution, turn off the system paging file and let it page to ram. Not that this will work flawlessly if you want to watch movies, do work, homework or have 20 other applications running on 1 GB of ram. But it works for me to 2 box this game on 2 GB of ram.

YMMV.
