Keyboard Problems (Not Alt/Shift Locking) [SOLVED]
EDIT:
Found a solution. Turns out it is tied to whether or not Numlock was on. If Numlock was on, it did not register enter key-presses, whereas if Numlock was off, it did register enter presses. A little bit of additional exploring showed that on my computer, the NUMPAD-ENTER and ENTER key were the same key. SO locking the numpad also inadvertently locked the enter key.
ENDEDIT
This is my first post on these forums, but I've been playing for almost six months now, love it here.
I have a really interesting problem that only happens on my laptop, and maybe some people can shed some light or know a solution for it.
When I play on my laptop, I'll begin typing a message via hitting "ENTER" key to enter the insert-text mode. I'll type my message, but when I hit the "ENTER" key again, it does not submit the message. The rest of the keyboard works.
-I can hit any alpha-numeric key and have it appear in the command-line buffer;
-I can use shift and arrow keys (With home/end as well) to navigate the cursor ;
-I can use backspace and space to add or remove whitespace
But I can't hit key enter to submit the message, or escape to exit the enter text mode.
I can leave the enter text mode by clicking on any hotkey. However, subsequent presses of the "ENTER" key will no enter the command-line buffer input text mode. When this problem manifests itself and I exit command-line buffer input text mode, I can continue using keyboard shortcuts, etc. Just hat the "ENTER" key does not register.
Zoning does not fix it.
Hitting alt or shift to solve (like an alt-shift lock) does nothing.
Relogging does fix it.
It doesn't always happen, but I can rarely input more than a couple chat messages before this occurs. This problem happens in EQW with either 1 or 2 copies open. It does not effect outside programs.
Anyone got any advice or solutions?
