Just started and it won't play

I downloaded the everquest underfoot expansion one, and I then followed the steps to get the ggame to run on the website. I see the EULA, hit accept, sign in, select the world I want to play in (only one option) and then I click play.

The error message I have gotten each time that I try to log is "The instruction at 0x63577c64 referenced memory at 0x00000040. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program"

I have absolutely no idea what that means or how to fix it. I am running on windows 7 operating system.

Does anyone know what I might be able to do to fix this problem? Any other information that i forget and is needed to help me please let me know.

Based on the error, this is probably a resolution issue. Are you using EQW? Make sure your resolution is not set above what your system itself can handle.

Thank you for the quick response.

I set my resolution to 800x600 and tried again. I did not get the error message this time but it crashed with no message several seconds after i hit play and the game came up. It started to say somethings were downloading, and then closed with no message or anything.

If it makes any difference, I am using a laptop.

Ok then, what should be happening:

folder\folder\folder should be in the browse to directory thing. This is the folder where you installed the game. Below that, have Use EQW and Run after Patch checked (should be anyway!) Do not have repatch all checked unless for some reason you want to repatch after you've patched the first time.

Now, after you hit Patch and Run it should bring up the EQW window. The only thing you need to worry about on this window is that you are pointing it at eqgame.exe in the 'folder/folder/folder'. Nothing else checked? Ok golden. Hit Start EQ.

If that doesn't work, try running w/o EQW, see if you can at least get to server select that way?

I can login, get to the server select, and hit play, but the game doesn't start after that. I have done all of the other stuff you have said before, and it still will not work.

Edit: well, it does start, but it crashes after it has been up for 3 or 4 seconds.
