just me, or is SoD wiki.....wiki??

Yeah it happens from time to time. Apparently the original administrator left, so its pretty wide open to hacks, defacements, and other such nonsense. Unfortunately the fools who do this think the links get clicked on, a waste of their time and ours. Not much can be done unless someone creates a new one, transfers all the data and begins admin'in it again. :(

If anyone knows how to contact the original owner of the SOD wiki, please do so and ask him to lock down the main page. Someone has an active spam bot replacing the main page with porn links.

Alternatively, it might be a good idea to have someone else who is actively playing and reachable start up a new wiki, because I'm going to take down the wiki links if this keeps happening, it's going to the point of unusable.

For now, in case they paste over the history again, here is the proper main page that should be edited in over their spam:

Yeah, Wiz has already addressed this issue. I'm not sure if the wiki owner is around to fix this or if he/she is MIA. Actually, I don't even know who it is, but we either have to fix this or start up a new one :rolleyes:
 
I could set up a wiki on my shared hosting account, but I don't know how to go about exporting/importing all the current data... and starting from scratch would be downright painful.

i could easily do the same, but again, i don't know how to do a full db transfer, and doing it by hand is far more than i'd be willing to do

Pull down the html with a spider...
write code to parse into whatever format your wiki of choice uses.

Simple
 
Either way, its pretty lame to host the wiki on someone private box or privatly hosted account with only that single person knowing the info to make major descisions for the wiki.
We just need to get in contact with that guy and make sure someone (an admin if they want a little involvement, which i doubt) to keep an eye on things. Can't expect someone to devote so much time into SoD as merely a casual player.
 
I just sent the owner an email asking him to lock the Mainpage and/or give someone else adminrights.

Now we can only hope he still uses this email address :rolleyes:

Er, yeah. My bad.

:psyduck: Hey everyone. I got the emails and stuff, as you'll see on the main page. It's locked now, so it won't happen again. I can't apologize enough, but I do it more on the main page where I updated why I hadn't noticed, and why no one was able to get a hold of me. I promise this crap won't happen again.

Oh, it just occurred to me, so i'll edit in here. Aside from email, getting a hold of me through aim/msn shouldn't be a problem. I noticed like last week maybe that I got a buddy request thing on msn, and now I guess it might have been someone here trying to get a hold of me. I'll be less paranoid in the future, and accept those just in case. I'm not a social recluse or anything, so please feel free to message me through those mediums or email (which now works I swear to god).
