Items from Pets.

Can sometime in the near future, it be possible to be able to take back items/weapons from pets?

For example. I've recently started looking for better weapons to give my mage pet. And the problem I'm seeing is: If I'm about to do a good group, or a raid is coming up, I would for sure not to give it anything I would lose.

My suggestion is making it possible to take back your items from your pet. With perhaps a "/pet trade" command. This way, you are never 100% sure if your pet will die, and you can prepare accordingly for raids and high end group by taking your camped/bought item back.

Or;

Making it so you can loot the items off your pet's corpse when it dies. This I can see being a problem as you can have a weapon for a very long time.

I have two things to say that sorta fit this post:

1) This would make a damn good class AA for pet classes.

2) Mages should get better summoned pet weapons. with DoTs, DD, stun, etc. Perhaps 4 different ones, one for each element. Then a relic summon that can only be equiped by mage pets! That gives them something to work with.

Actually, I like those ideas Yaladwen :)

The AA idea is awesome. Only problem I see is that you would need to give that AA to every pet class. Since they all give their pets stuff. And as I understand that means you would have to take out an AA that every pet class has and change it to that. So, that might be incredibly hard to do, or just not possible.

Pet classes are already insanely overpowered. They need to do more damage and hold better aggro and tank better?

I play a shaman/mage combo and pets don't get hps buffs, so just for that mere reason pets are limited to a decent balance. And they are nothing compared to warriors/monks/sks/pallys.

I cannot see better weapons being unbalanced.

Please keep this thread on topic. I'd prefer it to be about pets and gettting the items you give them back. Thanks

Sorry.
Yeah, getting stuff back form pets would be pretty cool, imo. Wished for that since eqlive at start.

The similar alternative to what I sugested first would be to scale up the pet weapons. I think that some should be simple quests (go go easy quest designer job!) to make the mages work for their profits. My ideas stem, I suppose, from my EQlive mage days. I was frustrated that mages did not have pet weapons in the low levels and that they would always have to bug me for weapons. My idea of the weapons summons:

Raise in levels, spread out. As stated before, they focus on the 4 elements, and have different procs/stats/types(spear, sword, staff, dagger?). These would be usable by all pet classes, should a mage be available to make them for you. The 60+ black saphire requiring spells would be removed.

This was what I wanted as a mage, BAD. The only other problem though, is that the mages, understandably, would feel ripped. They get to waste their time and mana to improve other's pets while theirs weren't getting special treatment. Perhaps all the standard none/none pet weapons could be vendor bought while their were quested summons for elemental/none pets only.

Obviously we dont want to give mages 40 more new spells, so keep the sets spread out I guess. The final one being for mage pets only, and archaic/or/relic :D

I think mages being able to get weapons back is a good idea and I think we should leave it at that if it's possible for Wiz to do. :)

Ok, if you want to stick to that then it should be like pet zoning. The pet cannot be engaged in a battle. This would prevent taking back a nice weapon before beloved Fluffy dies. Also, this shouldn't be limited to mages IMO.
