IRC Connection Help

Okay, I have never used IRC, and the meager attempts that I have been able to make haven't been successful in the least bit. I follow the link on the main page (irc://www.shardsofdalaya.com:6667/sod) and I get a The page cannot be displayed message. So I follow the link for the Chaotic Winds site (http://www.chaoticwinds.net/irc/webirc.html) which does open, but I get a message at the bottom that says "Connecting...Unable to connect : java.net.SocketException : Software caused connection abort : connect."

Is there someone that can tell me some direction to go to get connected? I wanted to check the status on the server, but I can't seem to connect to IRC for whatever reason.

download mirc and install it.
click the irc link on the front page of this site.

If you use firefox, dowload the chatzilla plugin, and then click the link as Tryfaen said, is an alternative.
The good point is you don't really need to install a new software on the comp ( its a 600ko plugin).
