Installing From Live Patcher

I have been searching for awhile and cant find any clear answers on this, but can you patch using the Live patcher with an account to the required expansion then patch with SoD patcher and not run into any issues? I ask this because last time i played you needed to use a fresh out of the box install and you couldn't patch live on it or it would mess up the SoD install.

There have been tons of post that hint at the fact that you can do this now but i have no clear answer.

I own the game, but all my accounts were created using digital downloads of the game so i do not have any CDs

Sorry if this question is answered somewhere else but i have not been able to locate any information about this specific issue.
 
It should work, the reason all the install guides say to purchase all the files you need on disc is because Sony no longer supports free downloads of all those files. Buying them online should be fine though.
