insane brownie

i don't know how many rangers have done the starfall belt, but what was your experience with the brownie part if you have? i just spoke to a ranger who said he had been camping it for a day and a half, and when he wasn't there - a necro had been camping him. between the two of them, it was something like 30 kills and no drop... and this is not the first ranger i have talked to about this.

this makes me not want to do it. is it just messed up or am i in for a really really long camp?

1st time 3 spawn was the charm, 2nd time, 4th spawn for me. Is a 30 min respawn I do think. I wouyld think it wouldn't be days of camping it to get the drop.

hm. well i just got through with 2 hours (four spawns) of camping and each time it dropped a normal great staff.

i'll try again tomorrow.

I camped him a few months back along with my mage. Got the Earthen staff on the first kill and looted it with my ranger by mistake. Fortunately, it only took 3 or 4 more kills to get another one.

Like I said, it was a while ago, but I killed him between 8-10 times, and never got the sash. I couldn't take the wait, so I left. I toy with the idea of going back, but I haven't yet.

I hope you have better luck (and more patience) than I did.

five more times, no luck. at least today he started dropping the earthen staff (twice). i was beginning to think i had the wrong mob.

so that's nine times. i think if i don't get it by the end of today i'm gonna give up... i mean i could make enough money to buy a better haste item with all the time i'm investing in this.

this is starting to feel like eq.

Yeah, the insane brownie can be kind of a nasty time sink. I've killed it 7 or 8 times either when running through or camping the flameseer, and not one drop. Not that I need a drop off it, but yeah.

2nd kill and sash for me. Which is just as well, 'cos for 13% haste, it's not so worth it - especially considering there's not much (any?) point in the second ranger starfall. At least it's an easy quest, I said to myself.... (3 hours or so for me, all told)

PS. Perhaps a haste effect that increases with levels (up to 20-25% total) would be a good idea? Though I don't hold out much hope, as the Starfalls are supposed to be superseded by the 50s anyway, I guess.
